High Memory Usage still

It appears that I am another that is experiencing high memory usage. 12+GB out of 32GB total. This is GSkill DDR5-6000 CL36-36-36-96 1.35V. No OC on it currently. Everything is stable on the system except for this excessive memory usage.

So you want to NOT use your RAM? You want to just have it sit there and be useless?

I don’t see how the game is chewing up 12+GB. No other title I play even comes close.

That isn’t a memory leak usage.

Update drivers worked for me on this issue as well as closing applications that aren’t Diablo.

It took me less an a minute to find this on google, why could you do the same?

I don’t want to use my entire RAM capacity on a game as I need some headroom for whatever else I might be doing. Nevermind the normal OS load.

Does it bother you that I reported high memory usage. I hope it does. And no, there is nothing going on in the background outside of normal system processes.

I mean, that’s what the OS does though. Re-allocates RAM where it’s needed. Don’t worry about it man. In a perfect world, any unused RAM is wasted RAM. If you’re multi-tasking, the OS will use it where it needs it. If the game/app/OS sees you have unused RAM, it’s gonna use it to increase performance. RAM usage seems alright for the game. I have 16gb and it uses about 5.5gb and I don’t have any problems alt-tabbing out. Like I said, don’t worry about it.

Well you must have a rare computer then.

I have 32 GB and it’s using around 12 GB of RAM and brings my total computer usage to 27/32 GB. Couple that with the 8GB VRAM being maxed out, I feel like the game plays bad because it wants to use too many resources.

its the vram im worried about and my 3080ftw3 10gb

D4 uses 20GB of VRAM on my 4090. Really makes me wonder just how big the “High-Resolution Assets” are. Must be massive.

Allocating and using are different. The more RAM you have the more things will tend to use because its there. 12GB/32GB isnt even that much. Are you trying to edit a movie at the same time or something?

I record or stream sometimes when I game.

Others games that recommend 16GB RAM don’t have the issues I’m facing in D4. This game also completely saturates the GPU as it crashes the GPU encoder for OBS after about 30 minutes.

Its not really an issue though. If you start doing other things your OS will allocate accordingly as someone else has stated. You won’t just magically run out with 32GB lol.

It’s using about 92% of my 4070Ti VRAM on average too.

I see the same usages in D4 streaming/recording as I do without.

The game is poorly coded from my perspective. Don’t really care that it’s allocating the RAM just for the sake of it. That’s wasteful.

I suppose I need to get the 128GB Windows allows me to use just so D4 won’t try to eat it all.

Yeah for what it is its def harder on the gpus then it needs to be, otherwise it wouldn’t have been bricking those 3080 cards last week.

Optimisations def needed because everywhere I go frame rates bounce from 100 to 0 in a couple many areas…I understand spikes but that’s hardcore.

I’m almost certain the studdering people are experiencing (including myself) is server related. I have a 3080 myself and its not bricked and I haven’t had issues with temperature or anything of that sort. Not to say there isn’t any but I honestly believe a lot of these incidences a isolated to a small unlucky few.

The game - needlessly - uses 99% of my 3080FTW3 GPU resources. Not exactly sure what it it doing while on the LOGIN screen - it sure isn’t generating complex geometries of trillions of texture cells.

Oh, wait, I know!!! It’s preheating the graphics card getting it ready for prime time!

ps: I’ve tried lowering the graphics settings, and so far, dropping resolution and frame rate limits to 2010 settings hasn’t slowed the games use of resources.

Annnnnnnnd it finally crashed for no reason while tabbed out.
