High Latency Issues

Recently moved and setup internet at my new place using Xfinity. Same modem and same plan, but for whatever reason I’m having issues gaming, and getting bad latency despite having good speeds. Basically multiplayer games are unplayable sitting at like 150ms spiking to 300ms.

I called Comcast but they assure me everything is working fine and the technician who came out said the same things. I’m guessing it may be something computer related I can’t see.

Anyone computer savy able to pinpoint my issue? I’m using an Ethernet cable plugged directed into the modem/router and there are no other devices connected taking the bandwidth other than my cellphone.

Exactly a month ago, I posted that I was having these ping/latency issues. Since then, I have had three separate Comcast technicians come out to my new house and they all assure me everything should be working fine. Even called the higher ups I could within the company and again, assure me that if something was wrong with the connection they would know.

I’ve had all the cables/outlets replaced, changed to a new CAT-6 ethernet cord, replaced the entire modem, double checked all my computer/LAN settings and ran every test imaginable. I have absolutely zero idea as to what the hell is going on and why I can’t fix it. I could see if maybe it was my computer or something, but this wasn’t an issue at my last apartment.

For further context, my exact issue has nothing to do with speeds, but rather, I’m getting an unstable PING making gaming basically impossible. Sometimes it will be at a stable 40-60ping which is reasonable, then BOOOM…shoot up to 150 or 250ms randomly every few seconds; The time of the day makes no difference.

What’s even more strange, is that doing a ping test through CMD provides inconsistent results from what I experience in games.

For those wondering no, there are no current alternative ISPs in my area as Comcast has a completely monopoly. Despite only living 10 minutes away from my previous address, no sure why all of a sudden this is an issue now.

I’m at a complete loss of what to do.
Can anyone here who’s more tech savvy think of something I may be missing here?

What server are you running this test to? That last IP doesn’t correspond to any of the Diablo IV server IPs.

Not sure what you mean. I did excatly what the instructions said. I downloaded the MTR program, grabbed the Diablo 4 IP address from Battle.net (34.105.4.61), then pasted that into MTR. Those were my results after 5 or so minutes.
