Help me understand

Where all this impatience comes from. There’s going to be another 10 years of content added to this game yet it seems like everyone wants it yesterday. Well, you’re not getting it yesterday and tomorrow doesn’t look good either.

There’s a new patch in 2 days and after that there’s a 2hr campfire chat on the 4th.

It is the “everyone gets a trophy” generation. Or maybe it is “everyone needs to be equal” generation. Or how about “give me everything without any work” generation.

Pick your poison.

We live in a world where some people believe words hurt, they are always right and you are wrong, but my opinion is the only one that matters and if you say otherwise, insert disparaging term here. People cannot handle adversity, any kind of problem, have zero common sense, are incapable of doing anything on their own and must be lead through life by their parents.

Am i close?

way off, most of us are in our 30s and when we pay full price for a game we expect a full game, this model of releasing a beta and then drip feeding fixes like it’s content might be excusable in a free or cheap game but people are getting pretty sick of it.

i doubt it, expansion 1 is already in the works i believe so we might get 1 years content, but i expect a lot of people will be hesitant to buy it upfront so if it’s less than incredible it will be the end of d4. the devs/the designers have shown a complete lack of understanding of what players want in a modern arpg so i wouldn’t hold your breath.

Oh well then, ya i am way off. I am sure there is absolutely no one in their 30’s as i described.

Apologies.

Or, instead of foaming at the mouth whenever a live service game releases and you buy it immediately, you may as well just wait a year or two for those ‘drip feed’ content additions to pile up. The price of the game is only going to go down, so you may as well wait until the game has more value instead of complaining that there isn’t enough at launch, right?

you think it’s unreasonable to expect a $70 game to actually have something to do beyond a very mid campaign that only gets you half way to max level? it being a “live service” only makes it more heinous, it’s a model that’s supposed to keep dangling that carrot of things to do and endless progression and it doesn’t even do that right!

Because all the QoL stuff was in D3…that’s why. Blizz had already learned what a lot of people wanted in the way of QoL from 10 years of D3. D4? It’s like all that knowledge went out the window and they just started from scratch.

Honestly this game could have used another year in dev to put a lot of things in…Blizz just rushed an incomplete product out the door.

i really hope the developers just ignore those complainers the game is fine but for some ppl it will never be to there likings.

Impatience due to simple logic… in 3 month, season is over and all your items=eternal, so if you don’t get a shako or GF in another 2-4 weeks, most people will stop playing til next season, so it’s a waste. Eternal is also a dead zone.

I think part of it is bad long-term memory. People forget that their favorite games, especially in this genre, took years to reach the state they’re lamenting D4 not being in currently. Also, a lot of folks seem to have a bunch of time on their hands, hopefully for good reasons and not because they’re losers or something, and want to fill it up with fresh dopamine hits 24/7. We’re a people hyper-focused on the derivation of pleasure, and we’re so inundated with transient sources of the stuff that anything which doesn’t provide it in large, potent doses immediately is cast to the side.

That having been said, they did crap the bed on the QoL features pretty bad. It was a mistake for them to let that stuff sit on the backburner like nobody would notice if they finished the basic stuff up 6 months later. Tsk tsk!

You can believe whatever you want. Expansion 1 only unlocks the southern region of the eastern continent (Kurast). All of the other places we know in Sanctuary are on the western continent (tristram, West March, lut gholein etc) and you actually believe we’ll never travel there?

So you think 230pm to 445pm = 1hr 15min?

I honestly agree, yes, some things got better but some things were bloated/somewhat-ruined to impatience

Like first 15 levels on a new character or SSF in general

However it’s also justified in a way cause there doesn’t seem to be a lick of activity or acknowledgement of some more basic things like the fact that loot should be optimized before doing stuff further

THAT is my prob. personally, the devs, and public figures, are almost if not entirely exclusively focused on improving experience “at lvl100” (the top top of the top, they’ll add a Dolmen Stone or an item like that once on a Blue moon without acknowledgement that the baseline pool of affixes needs some re/work)

How i like to think it of it is if I pay Complete offline game prices, i expect a complete game.

Imagine if games like Final Fantasy 10, only went up to the thunder plains, and you had to wait 3 months for them to add each area.

The issue is that this is NOT a $100 quality. It’ll get there though.

I have been waiting for a decent Diablo game for a very long time.

I don’t have to be generation Z to be impatient.

What you’re forgetting is they’ve had 30 years of making Diablo. They don’t have to reinvent the wheel each time.

then dont charge 70$!!!

Make a game within 5% of the quality of Diablo 4. Bring 9000+ people under your staff, each making between 55,000 and 250,000 per year. Develop for 7 years.

Just in labor the average cost of Diablo wouldve been in the mid hundreds of millions of dollars.

They can charge $70. I’d rather them be more forward and open communication about their intentions and design choices rather than paint a veil infront of their words.

I think a lot of it stems from the poor choice or oversight in not including things that should have been common sense or that have already been defined as necessary QoL in previous releases. Inexcusable absence of certain core features that make for a worse experience than could have been conceived prior to playing.

Ehm but we paid upfront…

I wouldn´t mind pay 1,75e per seasson

So hope you got your answer.

EDIT: I really can´t believe topic like this are from real people and not from Blizzard dudes.
Like really dude, imagine you buy new car and it can´t move bcs has no engine and wheels. Will you be ok if dealer tell you “Don´t worry we we will add engine in 1 year and wheels will be in 1st expansion”
