So i read somewhere about max armour being around 9800. But why does my armour number shows 22k? Is it max bonus armour on gear that is 9800 or max armour total?
Ive been investing lots of time in masterworking my gear with lots of armour but now im not sure anymore if i did the right choice.

It is because you have too much armor affixes or something.
You only need to get to 9230 and not worry about it anymore.
Anything above that, you are wasting an affix spot.
This. 9230 is the cap for the 85% dmg reduction against enemies 100 or higher.
Just to clarify, you can stack as much armor as you want. However, only the first 9230 of it helps you. You have over 12k armor that is doing nothing. Change those into max life or resists.
Ok thanks. But why does the armour total value keeps increasing? It should stop when max is reached or am i missing something?

Not only did i waisted good items that i salvaged but i waisted lots of time playing like a dummy…. Sucks
Imagine if levels would still go up but max level is 100 lmaoo….
Also in case you didn’t catch it, resists cap at 70% (a few effects can bump the resist cap up a % or two temporarily). Capped armor and resist are good for open world in WT4 at lvl 100. To progress in NMD and pits against enemies that above lvl 100, you may want to invest in some +max life (it’ll reduce your frustration from one hit deaths).
Oh, and mouse over the 4 basic stats and you’ll see that Strength and Intelligence increase armor and resist, respectively. So you can increase them indirectly as well with item stats and paragon nodes.
Several paragon nodes add armor and resist directly. You can use the filter see if you’re using any of those. You may be able to recover a few node points and assign them elsewhere.
