HELP! Camera too zoomed in!

Hello…I would like to address some problems with all these new games coming out with third person view or eagle eye view. Can we please get more camera setting to zoom out. The default camera version is so zoomed in and it needs fixing or whoever is wearing glasses why creating the camera setting needs to be changed out for an actual gamer. Gameplay with this camera setting just hurts people’s eyes. It shouldn’t be that hard to add a SLIDER for the camera adjustment. Some area in the game actually have the camera at a decent distances which looks good. World boss fight actually feels better because of the camera is further out. When you play the game its always better to have a little distance of how your eyes look at object near and far but this whole new camera setting of people who likes to look at their character while fighting 50 monsters is SUFFOCATING. Hope the camera zoomed option is fixed when S1 drops. I highly doubt they will do anything but lets hope this post makes it through to some of the big time gamer streamer and maybe they can address this simple issue.

I agree. An FOV slider would do wonders (in addition to moving with WASD unlike the clicking nonsense they have now)

Zoom level is fine. Go back to whatever game you came from.

I wouldn’t mind being able to zoom out a bit more, and I believe Blizz acknowledged this recently and are looking at possibly increasing it.

The only time it really pisses me off is when I get sniped by a bow off screen. Otherwise it’s something I can more or less deal with.

The answer is simple, if you are zoomed out too far then no one can see each other’s armor. If no one can see each other’s armor, then no need to buy armor sets in the store.

This is Blizzard, money drives decisions more than gameplay or gamer needs.

When you are dodging fireballs/butcher charge and CROSSBONE SKELETON who can one shot you. I’m sure you are not playing the game looking at your characters A$$. Be real the skin in the shop are all garbage as of now. Maybe 2 or 3 skin is decent. Just some decent improvement on the camera zoom out shouldn’t be this big of a change. They can zoom out the screen when you mount… Why not let it be an option to players who actually plays the game and enjoy it. Other than those players who play the game only looking at their characters A$$ all the time. “Look at me dodge enemy attack with this new skins I just bought that looks like A$$”

I remember a dev discussion about camera position in another game I played a while back.

Camera position is a design choice. They (developers) want you immersed in your experience…they want you to feel the narrative and aesthetics, they want you to be engulfed in the combat. It also adds artificial difficulty because you have less information available to you as a player.

When you zoom out, you lose all that and you sort of play this ‘meta’ gameplay style where you’re not really ‘roleplaying’ anymore, you’re just going through the mechanics of the gameplay loop with little to no immersion. This is the same reason why they don’t have an overlay…you don’t pay attention to your character anymore, you’re just moving a dot through an overlay map.

While Joe’s explanation is true (there are certainly performance issues to be concerned about), he was being very lawyerly in his reply. The real issue isn’t performance, it is because they want you immersed and challenged as a player and it is significantly harder to do that with the camera further away.

They likely won’t change camera zoom any time soon (if ever), but I hope they do because I don’t like being 1-shot from offscreen with no counterplay.

I believe it was posted in another thread that console limitations were partially to blame for limited features in D4. Well that and they are using an old engine.

Yes, if that’s the case then mobs you can’t see shouldn’t be hitting you.

what you’re going to want to do is take your mouse and keyboard and sit about 3 feet further back from the screen

They call it performance issues even though they zoom way out for world bosses. I call it cash shop issues. If zoomed out you don’t see cash shop skins. Barely see them at the zoom level they have. So then less people would buy them.

I don’t need it zoomed out much more but a little more would be nice. I’d like to actually see stuff I am killing or is shooting at me off screen.

Did you open up the radial menu or pc menu and accidentally press zoom in and then forgot to press zoom out?

its zoomed because the game is for consoles and you need to be able to see the character 10ft away on your tv.

Agreed! Please let us zoom out more. I can’t see what I am fighting half of the time
