Helltides mystery chests WHERE?

Anyone else finding the helltides matching the rest of the mystery non-existent content in this game? I love the supposed mystery chest maps all over the web showing locations, but yet not a one on any hour loop ever shows up. To make this game more fun it seems every time you gather 300 plus cinders the almighty plethora of attacks from the developers makes sure you end up dying 4 times in a row to drop you to below 75 making it almost impossible to complete a cinder 75 chest. Yet another example of seasonal tasks made impossible by the wonderful D4 staff.

i never have a problem finding mystery chests…

no idea where you look for information, but its obviously not the correct sources.

if you’re dying regularly in helltides then there is something wrong with your build. it’s extremely easy content. The mystery chests have like 2 or 3 spawn points per zone, just check them while you gather the 250 cinders, so you know where to go when you got them.

I don’t bother with chests anymore. The mobs give more treasure and usually just as good. If i happen upon a mystery chest then I’ll open it but I don’t go looking for them. Nearly every time I have they are gone by the time I have the cinders and the regular chests have nothing any better than mobs.

helltides dot com

check it out

They do not appear on the map until you get close to them. If you pin one and move away your pin will also disappear. There’s usually 2 in each helltide and they are often in remote corners or dead ends but the best way I have found is to just watch your minimap and look for chests that appear out of nowhere.

As they said.
Keep in mind: Mysterious Chests are in Fixed, predetermined locations. Over time you will learn all of them - you’ll need to reference an external map to see which locations are “ACTIVE”.
Khejistan spawns 3 Mysterious and all other maps Spawn 2 at one time.
The Chests rotate on the Hour. ie, Helltide starts at 19:30. 2(3) M Chests will spawn. At 20:00 those chests will despawn and 2(3) M Chests will spawn in different locations.

Yes yes 3rd party resource to find them.
Look on external device/2nd monitor.
example: One is Northwest - check. Stay within North portion of map. Kill packs, do events.
Learn where the densest areas on the maps are. Learn where the Events spawn(the Helltides site shows you this as well…).
Cycle events.
As you near 250 head to your pin(You DONOT need to “pin the Chest” itself - just the portion of the map. It shows up when you get within 1 1/2 screens or so.)
Repeat for the Next Mystery chest. If South - start Southerly and work your way through events, cycling them and killing packs.
If you have low dps - don’t bother with Kixx if solo.
If you’re dying - consider lowering WTier.

Good luck.

They kind of always show up in like 3/7 or 8 spots and then halfway through they move.

never play hc :joy:
And who care about softcore complaint… keep crying !

It’s effing stupid that the game does not show you where they are and that a 3rd party website will. Put the info in the game!

Also, why punish a player with losing half their cinders for dying? That does not make the game more fun.

There needs to be some consequence for dying. It ticks me off too, but I’m just glad I don’t drop all my armor, lose 1/2 my gold, and experience, before respawning in town.

I neither had a problem yet, finding that large chest.

Nor did I ever die. Mobs are mostly easy and I am a tanky-enough melee.

You might consider do the farming in WT3 if increasing your defenses isn’t viable. :man_shrugging:

Mystery Chests come in two phases. There’s one in the north, one in the south - then at about 30 minutes in, two new ones appear.

Usually if you can’t find any, they’ve moved to an area you already searched. It’s best to crowd source the locations on an external website.

They’re supposed to be mysterious and more difficult to find. The fact that we gamers have optimized the fun out of discovering them during play with third-party tools does not entitle us to complain about that.

Players find it then click it on the site. It’s just crowd sourced knowledge.

Well if you dislike the penalty, you could try Hardcore…

There should be some penalty for death. You’re not dropping all your gear and losing XP and having to do a naked body run like in D2.

The fact that you could die 4 times in Helltides tell me that you either have a very bad build or a worst set of gear. Your first priority is at least get your skill right with lousy imprinted gear.

cant say for others, but my method of gathering cinder is super easy. Look for 2 spot of events that is near to each other. cycle through the 2 events and it will get you tons of cinder as you will have player helping and joining you in the event it will make things much easier. You can get more than 500 cinder in 25 min.

I could easily get at least 3-4 mystery chest depend on the reset.

Correct me if im wrong, but the mystery’s chest reset on the hour. If the helltides start at lets say 6:45, the 2 mystery chest will change location at exactly 7:00. Which means you have at least 15min to open it. if not your whole session will only have 2 chest after 7:00 to the end.

MAYBE! I never paid attention to the exact real world time. I just usually grab all 4, plus 3-5 of the regular chests. Pretty solid xp.

Yea that’s a bad HT start time - 1/4 til the hour.
Can comfortably get 1 Mystery and sometimes a second depending on zone within that 15 min window. It’s tight.
On the bright side it’s a relaxing 45 minutes afterwards and if Mysterious chests were the only reason to farm it - get the 2 and be done.
The real challenge is 6 Chests in Khejistan. That hour can feel like a full session.

They’re called “mystery boxes.” And once upon a time role playing games didn’t give you markers for everything. You actually had to find things on your own. Of course there are third party websites out there, but even those aren’t 100 percent accurate as they can only show you all possible locations for an area. Not exactly where the chest is at that moment. So you still have to hunt.

Everyone’s mileage varies. I don’t mind areas where there’s an actual penalty for dying. I myself only do Helltides every once in awhile to break up the monotony from NMD, and to check the box on the seasonal bingo card.
