Helltides feel empty

They could be a lot of fun but from my experience there’s never enough people and not enough events, so you spend a lot of time just running around looking for scraps. You absolutely must do them because of Forgotten Souls, but they’re not massively fun ATM.

Every helltide I’ve done has has events going off on repeat. Tons of mobs all around. There’s always people around too. Maybe just bad luck on your part?

Maybe? I’ve done maybe 5-6 so far and they’ve all been pretty much empty, what WT are you playing on?

Have only done 2 so far but both times I thought there was plenty of mobs and heaps of events seemed like a lot going on, the first time I died a few times running into higher lvl mobs and the like it was pure chaos and I loved every minute of it. WT3

The same events that exist when Helltide isn’t active?
The same mobs that exist when Helltide isn’t active?

Do you really think Helltide as an activity is fulfilling or rewarding? Not just “fun” but an actually good activity in its current state?

Grind mobs for an hour for a chance at a specific gear slot.
So… quite literally the exact same thing you do when Helltide isn’t active, except now you get a modicum more agency.

It hardly feels like an endgame activity.

It’s okay to criticize the game. Helltides are underwhelming at best. It won’t take long for the community in general to recognize this and become quite vocal about it.

It isn’t rewarding because the rewards are the same rewards you get everywhere else in the game. If there were rewards, outside of the crafting mat, that were only found in Helltides that dropped there then they would feel worth doing. Blizzard drops the ball again refusing to have “targetted” loot.

I agree. It doesn’t even feel like an activity, let alone an endgame one. It just feels like a dynamic event or something.

I find them fun and rewarding. If you get 2 or 3 of the mystery chests in a helltide you get a ton of high tier gear. It’s one of the best ways to farm gear in the game. I’m always on edge cause the mobs swarm you and it gets pretty tough when you are holding a lot of cinders. But everythings subjective. I enjoy it a lot and it’s very rewarding.

I have been playing on wt3 so far

It literally is targeted loot. The chests are literally slot specific. Yall crazy.

If you don’t mind me asking, why do you need people around?

Anyway, if you look carefully… there is a chest of mystery somewhere on the map that only appear when you are maybe just 1 screen away top. And you can get 4 legendaries for the low low price of only 175 err… blood shard? or something…

Need is a strong word, but everything is definitely faster with other people. And the primary reason in doing them is Forgotten Souls, which are pretty rare. And obviously I open the mystery chest whenever possible.

Honestly, most of it feels like lazy efforts at MMO stuff. A copy and paste of things nearly every MMO out there has. I hope they lay off the time sink MMO ideas for a while, it may just kill D4

I HATE Helltide, I am beyond sick of farming it for hours on end for a tiny handful of Souls that are gone in seconds while rolling thru 40x affixes for 1 decent one… for ONE peice of gear.

Forgotten Souls needs to drop somewhere else!
Helltide needs a major density increase and boost to Souls droprate!

Game has been out a week… and I finally had the thought cross my mind i’d almost rather quit than count the hours that will be wasted in this POOR event trying to roll and upgrade decent end game gear. 2 Freaking hours… couldnt even get 1 Affix on a necklace and zero souls again.

I have felt the same multiple times as well, but then when i party up with someone from another country suddenly tons of players show up… I am thinking it could be something to do with this region based system they are running similar to what they implemented in D2R.

Really?? I get swarmed by everything whenever I get more than 25 cinders.

I agree Helltides are underwhelming—but one thing that it does accomplish is the ability to target farm the gear slots you need. And it’s a double dipping sort of target farm—farm cinders to open the chest you need, farm the events within the Helltide for Obols so you can gamble for the slots you need.

They could still do more with it…just pointing out what they actually did do correctly with them.

They should change it so that after opening a chest, it doesn’t become inactive, and you can go back and open that same chest repeatedly.
