I’m playing on PC, with a 2070super graphics card.
I’ve tried to do Helltides 3 times now, and everytime I do the game crashes.
I am able to walk around and collect around 40 of the Aberrant Cinders before the game crashes to desktop. I don’t understand why this is happening, but each time it does I then end up waiting in a 15+ minute login queue.
I am having this issue as well. I have crashed every time I am trying to do a Helltide. Doesn’t matter which zone it is in. Grouping with friends is pointless as I become dead weight. If there were some sort of error report to send in I would LOVE to but I have no idea what the cause of this is. I do not normally crash outside of Helltides, but I have to now avoid these zones while one is going on because it darned near tries to take my whole system with it. Playing on a 3060. I once got to 204 cinders but crashed as I tried to open the special cache. Since then it has crashed around 40-60 cinders. I can’t even get enough for a weapon cache.

I crash in helltides as well, and I found another thread where were all impacted users had an RX580 - any other RX580 “enjoyers” here?
My wife is using an 8gb rx580 but has not had a Helltide crash. Weird
Also crashing with a 2070 while in a helltide.
Also experiencing this crash, at least once every Helltide event, multiple times more often than not. RX580.
i am having this issue as well and i run rx580. i did the updates i lowered what i could and it is still happening.
Also crashing randomly during Helltides on an RX 580. Just adding my name to the list I suppose.
After the latest “stability update”, I started crashing in Nightmare Dungeons. Anything that would make progress even just a bit easier is quickly dwindling.
The game doesn’t always crash when I open the map, but when it does crash it’s because I opened the map and it’s always a total system crash, forcing a hard reboot.
So, a simple workaround is to only use “T” to portal to town when you’re in a Helltide zone (which sucks if you want to go somewhere other than the main town) and open the map in town for your navigating/pins. Pin the location of your desired chest and work from there and never or rarely open the map in a Helltide zone.
It seems to crash less often if I open the map when there are no mobs around, so I’ll sometimes risk it, but opening the map indiscriminately indubitably leads to a system crash.
Edit: now it’s starting to crash in town too
I’m an rx580 user and having the same problem lol
Add another RX 580 card to the Helltide Crashpalooza.
3 attempts and 3 crashes. Cards fans spin up, black screen of death… and a forced hard reboot.
Exact same issue - there is another thread up with more people with the 580 crashing in helltides.
Rx800, whole game running smoothly except this godda*n area full of mandatory components.
This has driven me crazy so I found some temporary measures to reduce drastically crashes ( got one crash in two full time Helltide event) :
This PC>Documents>DiabloIV>LocalPrefs.txt>DisableChromaEffects
Change [0] to [1] in the value, save & close.
Then ingame options, block FPS to 60 max, put most graphic settings to the lowest and play windowed mode ( windowed seems to prevent full blackscreen of death and instead crash the game)
It’s very inconvenient, but I can atleast reroll my gear stats & upgrade past4.
Hope blizzard wake up ASAP on this one.
Thanks Izajar, I tried all that, including a scan and repair and it’s still crashing. I didn’t even make it to the actual zone, just opened the map in town and it crashed. I expected windowed mode would be different, but nope… still full screen black window of death.
RX590. If I try to go to map in a Helltide I immediately hard crash and have to restart the machine.
I’m on xbox series x and it crashes constantly during helltide. So it’s not just 580s
I have an rx 580 with the same issue, helltides and certain NM dungeons cause me to crash (gpu fans at 100%, black screen, no response from keynoard)
Plz Help with this issue, its the same for me, RX580 its unplayable crashing just as soon as i open the map in the helltide area anywhere else in the world.
