Helltide Improvement

Goal: One hour full of action and loot while being a challenge
Helltide should be the event you dont wanna miss

  • 10x higher mob density in WT4 or 5 (WT3 needs also be higher but should still function as a bridge between campaign and endgame) Riding should be impossible in wt4+ since you need to fight so much

  • summoning rituals everywhere for elite and bosses

  • special armor looks and helltide only stats on items

  • better gold drops and higher exp to match nightmare dungeon

I agree the open world needs love… it’s such a big place, and personally I’d rather spend my time in the open world than the dungeons. They all blend and nothing really stands out except when the butcher pops up.

I agree on mob density, it needs to be flooded with monsters, its still to scarce.

10x? Will Waldo be added as a Helltide boss?

Cellars that appear in zones affected by helltide should also be able to drop cinders. They need to buff cellar rewards in general but I always skip them during helltide because they don’t drop the currency…

I support these changes. It would make it so much more engaging and satisfying for me to play.

Its supposed to be a monster tide. Monster should be crawling all over the place.
If it were me I would go so far as having to fight for the cities or outpost.
Imagine zoning in a city like the worldboss mechanic where the city becomes 20x bigger. Like a big stronghold on steroids.

Also:

  • Have only 4-5 Helltides / day with a duration of 2hours.
  • When the timer reaches 30minutes an event start at a random location (you can check on the map). This even will open several portals at the same location that you need to clear, after clearing all a Giant portal will summon a Boss (Andariel, Duriel or that Cerberus boss). Boss should be more challenging than WorldBoss. When the boss dies, they have a chance to Drop unique items (from their specific item pool) like Chase unique items.

And several Helltide chest will spawn with different costs (75, 125, 150, 175 and a special chest 300). So to open the chest you’ll have to fight the boss, kill it and have enough shards to open the chest as the Helltide will probably soon be closed. If you die a lot on the boss, you’ll have no shard to open the chest.

Even with 100x higher mob density it’s plain boring, because none of the monsters feel like a threat to you.

If there was Level 120 Butchers running around and hunting players it would be more fun. For example those monsters could be marked on the map like Hatred’s Chosen in PvP.

Yeah there are certainly ways to improve/increase the scale of helltides.

  • Might as well have special vendors instead of chests. Chests should be rewards for killing elite and bosses.
  • Special counter dungeon where YOU invade hell. Can be a time attack mode to see how far you can go or/and a type where you are hunted by the forces of evil. Both end most of the time in being expelled from hell.
  • Might need resistance to being corrupted. Which results in loosing a portion of your stuff.
  • Thats what I meant by summoning rituals. Where they summon more/dangerous elites and dungeons bosses.
    More of those Khazixx things seems also like a good idea.

Overall goal being rewarded for taking certain risk with the appropriate punishments.
