Unpopular opinion or not, I don’t think half of your helltide cinders, or any amount for that matter, should be lost on death.
It’s balanced enough that they don’t carry over between helltides.

Just don’t die, problem solved.
(Honestly, T4 is so easy the only way to die in a hell tide is when you are looking at the map and multiple meteors hit you. Map overlay wanted thx)
come on…the game needs some tension. and I was cracking up last night when my friend was raging out after he had died with 250 cinders twice in a row on his way to a mystery chest.
Skill issue. Get good.
I think you should just have to ask the monsters nicely for cinders. I don’t even know why there is combat tbh.
Fixed it for you , you are welcome
Yeah and then PotatoBarb runs over to you with half the map chasing him and dies.
Play on PC and turn off cross play. You will have the whole zone to yourself.
I can’t keep solving all your problems for you folks….
Yeah, with the across the board defense nerfs, +1 to helltide mob levels, and the nerf to cinder drop rates, they need to remove losing cinders on death. Helltides went from fun to just irritating.
Naw i think they need to expand on this and bring exp loss on death. Run to your body naked to recover half of the loss.
D2 did it right.
Please stop asking them to dumb this game down.
They very much should be lost on death. And there should be way more consequences when dying on SC in general.
I’ve died more times looking at the map then any other way.
Working as intended. I think there should always be a penalty for death.
I die sometimes and it makes me mad for a second. It doesn’t ruin my day. I just try to play a little better.
Have you tried getting gud?
If you get gud, you won’t lose your helltide cinders.
Maybe go get gud, then return?
Oh yea, why don’t we also make your characters invincible?
I have to disagree,
this is almost the only thing that Diablo 4 made correct.
Having the fear / challenge to lose 50% of your cinder makes Helltide at least a bit interesting.
Personally i wish that bossfight you could only revive by other players for example… since everything is so boring…
Sweet free cinders bring them to me I will aoe them all down in 2 seconds
I think they should make cinders more interesting with the loss on death mechanic by providing a buff per cinder so you have an incentive to stack it high and keep it there for awhile.
IE: give an xp and/or magic find bonus per cinder up to some cap while you’re holding them
How about -20% to all stats after death to make you not want to die
