So I got a unique item (which is pretty cool). Its called the hell hammer. New chance to change up the build a little. Cool sign me up. …Weeeell for some reason upheaval (which is a central figure in the unique items ethos) doesn’t use the FLAMING HEAVY METAL HAMMER to squash the brains of my enemies, but rather my two handed sword. Also puzzling, in my view, is the icon for upheaval SHOWS a hammer, though to be fair, unlike hammer of the ancients it’s description box doesn’t include bludgeon next to core.
With all that preamble out of the way, I was curious if anyone knew if there was a way for me switch to using my hammer when I’m using upheaval. Didn’t seem to be in the options, but I might have missed it.
Appreciate the insight. Here’s hoping I can regularly be seen wielding my FLAMING HELLHAMMER (not to besmirch my crystal great sword. It’s looks pretty cool too) just trying to show both my weapons some love…and aestheticly its bothering me…please help it botherering me so much
Be well
You have to assign the weapon type to the skill. Yours is likely on auto-assign, which will default to your highest DPS weapon.
Hey there
Quite a bit since you responded but I appreciate you taking time to help. I see it in the abilities tab at the bottom.
Now I shall commence the high temperature bonking

What conan said. I had that same issue also. I was using my 2hander sword and not the Hellhammer. I eventually stayed with the Hellhammer even though my sword was stronger. I liked the new animation of the upheaval. I just wish you could have different damage types besides physical and fire. Cold damage would be nice and would work well with the frostburn gloves.
Considering all modifiers are Physical%, it just needs a Conversion Method similar to how Grim Dawn Handles it. If Elemental Damage was converted to Physical Damage, it benefit from all conditionals and scaling.
I think that’s the entire reason why blizzard made it elemental for barbarians. Because there’s no way to increase the damage output.
No, certain stats and mechanics do scale it but it’s still worse than if you just went for a bleed build.
Generally you dont even want to use the hammer itself with upheaval as using a 2h sword allows you to bleed which is what’s hilarious about it.
Currently only Ghor’s and Azurewrath can increase your non-physical damage. It’s not synergistic at all.
That still leaves the qeustion, “Why create legendary aspect that doesn’t scale and has no interaction whatsoever?” Really make you wonder how blizzard came up with the values for these ‘fixed damage’ number.
