Hellborn damage?!

Either make them bosses, or nerf their damage significantly.

I mean, I can one-shot most elites, but when the hellborn comes out, not only it’s as tough as a boss (if not tougher), it often one-shots me. It’s not fun being stunned to death, nor being one-shotted with maxed out resistances, armor, 15k hp and damage reductions here and there. I think they need a little bit of tuning.

So you do not want anything difficult in the game.

Just a quick question, Eternal character with ‘legacy’ gear, or new Seasonal character with not so great gear?

The damage does seem excessive, and not even with all Hellborne. The firey ones seem to be the worse. I have 16k health full fortify and maxxed elemental resistances, but I don’t last more than a moment in melee range.

Is there a technique people are using? Maybe this is a melee issue?

It’s funny, there’s people on the forums claiming D4 season 4 is crazy easy with zero challenge. I wonder if they are playing a different game?

Though personally against nerfing hellborne. They are a fun challenge.

16k health sounds low, what class?

You die in melee range because the damage is only partially elemental.

How is your armor? Are you at the max cap?

Do you have any DR?

It’s glorious! Glorious I say!

You just need a bit more gear. I use to stuggle a but because my gear wasnt masterworked. They become a joke later in the game but are very fun when your first gearing.

Does it matter what level I am? I’m assuming they’re not supposed to be endgame bosses, since they’re nearly unavoidable if we’re doing helltides.

I’m Barbarian. Up to 18.8k health now, 6k armor, 12% DR from elites, 23.5% DR from close, plus intermittent 11.6% DR while fortified, 14% DR while healthy, and 40% DR from Challenging Shout.

I’m not surprised the balancing is still on this wild pendulum swinging from mostly ignorable to one-shotting invicible (unless you have an overtuned broken build). That’s pretty par for the course. The only real answer is to avoid the crap they can’t balance right.

If you start attacking a hellborn and they take zero damage, just leave. It’s not worth your time, and chances are they’ll one-shot you if you stick around.

Nothing should oneshot properly specced/geared characters. But seems positive that Hellborn offers some challenge at least. Such as not being oneshot themselves.

Why should that exclude them from being endgame bosses?
They are also fairly easy to run from, for those who want to avoid them.

was about to say that. i mean, if one knows he cant really fight them yet, you can just avoid them pretty easily.

Also running barb, have 10k armor and while beserking at least 40%DR + challenging shout another 40%dr and I’m going down in 1 second.

Way too over-tuned, not balanced whatsoever. The game has felt incredibly easy, killed bosses so far in seconds and then this thing spawns and is basically 1-shotting me.

This was playtested ???

I’m running a necro and a barb, my barb is only level 48 but doesn’t have a problem with anything in the Helltides. My necro eats Helltides for breakfast. I’m not sure why anyone is getting one shot at all, tbh. Are people trying to punch too far over their weight?

Are you suggesting that they’re supposed to be endgame bosses, or just questioning the assumption that they’re not? If we’re supposed to run from them until we’re masterworked, then I guess I’ll just run from them.

I thought endgame bosses are not leveled down to the player, and are not encountered incidentally while performing commonplace activities. I am also basing my assumption on the fact that a boss health bar mechanic exists yet the Hellborne don’t have one, suggesting that they’re not meant to be a boss of any kind.

I’m having the same trouble with the Hellborn. I am a level 98 druid with 22k health,14k armor, and 26k attack power. My resistance to all elements is capped at 70. I hit for millions on my overpower which is about 8/10 hits due to attributes. I absolutely mop the floor on tier 50 dungeons… but the moment a hellborn is spawned in the helltide, they kill me in a couple seconds. It is one thing to have a boss that slinkies your health bar and keeps you on your toes. But 1 shot me? No. I want to know if there is anything maybe i am doing wrong. The hellborn need a damage nerf though. it is a little too excessive.

I was kicking her butt with legacy gear. It is the oP who has s*** gear. Heck, even her actions are super telegraphed. Some people will not be satisfied until the game plays itself.

16K is okay. You should have more than enough stats. Like all content, above level 70, you have to be able to weave in and out melee and evade mechanics. And if you are below level ~70 do not solo her.

Yes this mob ruins my fun every time. I play with xbox controller and if he attacks me i have to keep spamming potion butten. But then i cant move properly. Potion button is A and dodge is B. But further i can destroy everything. I nuke elites very easy. So its not a surprise that they get help from their boss. But i dont play hc so its should not be a big problem.

If there is 1 thing very annoying then its when bags full and go to a town and when i port back i come in a different map (with other players) or no players at all.

He has destroyed my cinders a few times.

Some hit harder than others but not being bosses means you can CC them
