I picked up D4 at launch. I even paid extra to play a few days early (learned that leasson!). And I have played every single day since launch, except when I was away on vacation.
But this season, I did everything I wanted to do and just stopped playing. That had not happened in any previous season. So why am I tell you this, as no one but me cares about my gaming (beat Return to Moria and and playing Satisfactory now, in case you do care).
I mention this because I can’t be the only die hard D4 gamer that stopped playing. I already complained that the season is just too long. Me not playing for a month only strengthens my argument.
I will come back in Season 7. I already took next Wednesday off to be able to play. I hope I don’t play for a bit and realize I just don’t like the game any longer.

I too take breaks from various hobbies from time to time. It’s completely normal.

It weakens your argument. You played too much and got burned out.
If the seasons were shorter you would feel more pressure to play because shorter seasons would be starting up more often.

I need breaks from D4 so I can finish games in my Steam backlog.
Stop tempting me, Winter sale.

I have also been playing almost every day since launch. I stopped for a while a few weeks ago. I play mostly solo and don’t trade and I normally keep playing for the additional small power increase but I wasn’t seeing this happening since season. The game was still entertaining but it must also be rewarding, even if the reward is tiny.
I don’t do much gaming any more except for D4 so I gave it another try. Went to play Eternal. Had all my former characters with legacy gear to upgrade. Kept me busy. All have now Ancestral items and are doing decently in Torment 4. I use now the Party Finder a lot and join randoms to do game activities. Started having a few added to my friend list.
I am not running the Pit to level my Glyphs to 100 or trying to reach Paragon 300, just doing what I find are relaxing and entertaining game activities.

Not every body has the same amount of time to play and progress, or put the same amount of effort in it. Good for you if you could finish the season early, and play something elese in the remaining time. But not every body can or willing to do that.

I often eat Pizza, but yesterday, i was in the mood for some spaghetti bolognese.
I immediately informed the biggest pizza companies that something must be wrong with their recipe.

You are being mean.
OP is just sharing his personal experience with the game. Might not be super interesting but at least the post is about the D4.and there is not so much activity in the forum currently, until S7 starts.
By the way, I had Lasagne a couple days ago. Wrote it in one of my posts.

hah - i am mean sometimes =P
but yea, the message comes across. its fine to do other things. i for sure wont quit pizza because my bolognese was delicious. eventually ill even broaden my horizon and try some lasagna as well
You’re not. I did the same as you…played and paid early (haven’t spent a dime since). Played an S0 slowwww Druid to level 80. Skipped season 1. Played season 2 as a necro…had fun. Skipped season 3, 4, 5, and 6, didn’t get the DLC and have no plans to play season 7. When I get the itch, I play my original Druid that was nuked back down to level 50. I’m no level 60 and paragon 229.
The game we got at launch was terrible. Blizz has slowing been fixing some things. But as for money for Blizz…hell no. I might get the dlc for $10…maybe…if it ever drops that far.
I played every season until the last day until S6. Usually 35-ish hours a week. The changes to the loot drops, paragon system and paragon grind ruined it for me. I stopped about 3 weeks ago.
I played the PTR and it all felt the same. Looks like a repeat for S7. It is looking like this go will be alot shorter. One of my favorite seasonal themes is coming back D3 a few days after S7 launch.
Did you play Spiritborn? That would have made you play for a shorter period of time than previous seasons.
They also didn’t really add enough for an expansion. They added so little that people said it’s fine that people finished quick and that it’s normal. Even though everyone finished quicker than any previous season and this season was THE START OF AN EXPANSION.

That was my problem for sure. Never in my history of playing Blizzard games have I basically dropped one faster after an expansion than D4. If they hadn’t added more stuff to clog the stash, I would have at least started a new character but I didn’t even feel compelled to do that (eternal player.)

Yep, he burned himself out.
I honestly dont get this desire some people have of being married to one game every day for life. If you enjoy it, great but at some point you WILL get bored of it. Even WOW wasnt able to keep players addicted forever. At some point you will want to try something different. Especially when we are talking about diablo like arpgs which expect you to level all over again every three months.
Ive enjoyed every season that D4 has had, but Ive never played them the full three months. Once Ive finished the season journey I might linger for a bit, but usually at a month and a half Im satisfied and off playing something else. To me thats normal. I play to relax, not feed an addiction.

They were saying 1 expansion per year then said well actually 1.5 years but really? The expansion barely added more than a typical season. In some ways it added less. One can only hope the 2nd expansion adds a worthwhile amount of content for however long we have to wait.
what?
Nahantu. Undercity. dark citadel. campaign. runes. a new class.
what season is of a similar size?

Absolutely, I wasn’t stoked on the additions but there certainly was quite a bit of them!

yea thats fair. i mean especially dc was heavily discussed here lol ^^
You’re barely in Nahantu unless it’s helltide or you’re in the undercity town. Not everyone bothers with Citadel. How much do people play the undercity compared to other activities? I didn’t say they added nothing but how different does it feel to previous seasons?
The season they added 5 bosses was more significant. They spent a whole season on re-itemization. Infernal hordes obviously had the least content added but it was clearly a filler season because the season of loot reborn wasn’t originally planned so it put them behind.
Regardless of season 3’s typically being negatively received how much more does it feel like was added to season 6? You can list a bunch of things but how much does it feel like was added?

I don’ t regret buying VoH…despite Dark Citadel. The game is all about what you do after finishing the story and honestly, if you don’t do DC, there isn’t much. I appreciate the new environments that have been created for Nahantu but in terms of activity there is nothing more than what already existed in Sanctuary, except for Kurast Undercity. For me, this not enough for an expansion.
