Is it just me, or have all the classes in Diablo become too cartoony?
Spiritborn - dollar store monk. Doesn’t even eat hearts.
Rogue - no throat slitting or anything.
Barbarian - what’s barbaric about them?
Druid - no explanation needed.
Sorcerer - has good drip I guess.
Necromancer - kind of the only one that has any darkness to them.
Where is the eating of hearts? The slitting of throats? The plucking of eyeballs?

When do they really do that? Is that a mandatory thing? The lore at the very least doesn’t say anything about the spirit born doing that. Eating…hearts.
But anyway, I don’t want to nit pick everything here… but…
Didn’t they do this already a few seasons ago? With the introduction of Infernal Hordes? That whole story/quest line. They did enough of that.

I’m a die hard Diablo fan . And that’s my line.
cartoony & Fisher-Price & Dora-ish style.
specifically barb’s earthquake vs D3.
druid’s bolders vs D2.
and that spiritborn’s perfect symmetrical skill shape making you feel like Dora’s Adventure kid.

The screw whole theme of this game. Looks now like Gypsy Land.
The answer is yes but the reason is not what you think, it’s not that the game is not dark and gory anymore, the answer is because the new abilities look absolutely cartoonish therefore terrible
MT and the Feather thingy of SB look like directly imported from D3. The promotion video for S8 showing us SB collecting feathers and then some red storm appearing => that thing looked like a direct copy paste D3 model
So do the S7 witch powers. There are so many high opacity auras that I can’t even know what’s below
My hope is that’s only temporary cause they moved the actual dev power into new expansion but tbh I’m starting to worry about it a bit more
Visual effects in Diablo 4 are overall bad or lazy in my opinion.
I have to notice it everytime I am on the training grounds: Effects and animations are reused a lot, not necessarily from D3, but in general across D4 with aspects, skills and classes. Gives me a hard time distinguishing one damage effect from another, so it often is necessary to unequip stuff.
Blizzard should consider hiring more designers for that and also think about reworking the skill tree in this regard. I mean, why does our poor barbarian have almost all of his core and basic skills basically be a weapon swing with different tooltips? It is a terrible look & feel for players starting this class.

Yes. DIV is too cartoony. If i compare it to Micky Mouse, Ren & Stimpy or Chowder i cant see any difference. ((
