they announced the removal of cheat death elixir, but it has not been set in stone, they can always go back on this if enough of the community has a word about it.
reasons i would like to keep it in the game, i barely use it as is, i only ever popped it on world bosses cause world bosses is unplayable and stupidly laggy, or when servers are having their daily lag issues, we as a player choose to use these and its an optional potion, plus last i remembered pre season they said that they would keep the thoughts of both the serious gamers and more casual gamers, and both the serious gamers and casual gamers both use cheat death and prefer to have it in the game.
casual hardcore gamers really need cheat death as a sort of baby step to get them into learning the harsher game mechanics and serious hardcore gamers need cheat death for when the game just either doesnt let you play through chain CC or lag and disconnects.
since i cant seem to comment on my own post to to add 2 comments, one being dont remove cheat death potion and another being remove cheat death potion, can someone make 2 comments for me with those, and we could use the like feature or heart feature or something to make that a sort of poll

What really need to do is have checkbox remove ability to use death pots and gives tag or constant glow when death pots pro is.
On top of this you have it in status effects.
So streamers could say yes I am playing real hard core, give leader bored who did it.
But allow people who want little Safty net I died with death pot on because half second slow on scroll of escape.

I vote to keep cheat death, not for myself, but for the vast amount of players I bring into the hc community who are solely joining this side on the sheer fact they have a little buffer zone due to lag interference as this games servers are buggy af.

Removing cheat death is a huge mistake and it’s going to really hurt the already very small HC community.
It should stay, though it could have been implemented in a better way. Diablo 3’s cheat death mechanics all required some trade off and they were available to both SC and HC. I think that makes more sense, but at the end of the day we need some backup plan for any kind of endgame pushing, lag spikes, group play (someone else killed an exploder as you walk in the room), etc.

Yeah, I do think they need to bring back the cheat death pot. Removing it completely really drives the point that they don’t value Players’ time. Without the death pot, the hardcore realm will only be filled with players who say - well, I can just level a new character in 1-2 days. But for the casual hardcore players - those who take weeks or months to level a character - one mistake, and everything is erased.
Possible Solution:
They could have made it more difficult to obtain the Elixir of death evasion. Either making it a rare drop, or increase the crafting costs.
Right now, I don’t use the pot in most of the game content. Generally, I only use it when I want to try something more risky. Usually when I want to clear the capstones while at an extremely low level just for fun. And when clearing T100s. Even when running T70s, I don’t use the cheat death pots (once you’re fully geared). The pot is just there, when you’re trying to push harder content as a safety net.

It baffles me that right now - when they have just decided to include harder content with level 200 uber bosses and an infinite Pit Tier system - and said, ‘Oh NOW it’s a good time to remove the cheat death pot’. Seriously - at this juncture??
Uber Unique farming - Is it worth it in Hardcore now?
Would a rational person spend 200+ hours grinding to farm uber uniques - only to get killed off when trying to push the new Pit system. Its just not worth it.

Agreed with all the above replies to the post. I would have never gotten into HC had it not been for the cheat death options. Even with those i have lost x2 lvl 100s this season.
Please for the love of Tyrael keep cheat death options.

Don’t remove cheat death elixir. Instead give some other penalty or create a new title/card that you can show off if you have never used a cheat death elixir or triggered one.
Otherwise we are going to see more m0r0ns on trade channel chatting to death instead of playing the game. HC trade channel is already full of them.
Once cheat death elixir is removed all these guys will just crowd the game with level 1 char and keep chatting… kill me lol.

After trying out the PTR (with a SC char), I believe the DE pot to be quite necessary for end game content. I built my character to be tanky and sustainable enough to just walk through 100+ pits, but it could die easily to a lag spike to one of the one-shot mechanisms, and you know there are many of these. Maybe it doesn’t matter much for streamers to re-level a character, but it would be a huge setback for most casual HC players. I play HC for the thrill of building a character to take calculated risks. Removing the DE pots would definitely hurt many players likes me. On the other hand, people who want the “real” HC challenge can always choose not to take the DE potion.

Those are majority posted by users who don’t even play hardcore. They’re people with an inferiority complex that believe they’re of lesser caliber. I don’t know who hurt them, but it’s time the pure hatred from soft core directed at hardcore is stopped. I’m only seeing softcore people complain about hardcore. I never see hardcore members slandering softcore players or putting them down. Personally Hardcore mode in its current state has made me better at Diablo 4 than I EVER would’ve been had I stuck to softcore only. It’s crazy how softcore exclusive players will say they’re afraid to play hardcore due to lag. Blizz gives us lagg bufers (DE pots, Flame shield Death passive & SoE). Now that they’re being removed Soft players will go back to saying “The server is too unstable”. They’ll find any excuse they can to knock our achievements. I personally play ALL realms. If there was a SSF mode I’d be on that as well. I believe the game is vast and only sticking to one single realm is the equivalent of only playing 1/4th of the game.

After playing the HC mode since S1, it is almost impossible for me to go back to SC. I am not used to the mode where decisions have little consequences. I think for the vast majority of people who actually spent time with HC, the existence of DE pots is not a problem (of course tweaks could be made to make the mats rarer).
Maybe some people believe that the DE is closing the gap between elite players/full time players and normal players that they want it removed to show their superiority in leaderboards. I am not against their will. The leaderboards could implement a rule that only pit levels achieved without the pots count towards the rankings. There are many ways to satisfy a broader player base, but the complete removal of the DE pots is not one of them.

You’re correct on so many levels and I couldn’t agree more with your feedback. I will add to your comments that I’ve personally spoken with the majority of the players on the hc leaderboards (I’m on the boards with multiple Rank 1 players and on boards without them to prove I didn’t depend on them) and not a single one of these colleagues of mine have said anything in relation to wanting a DE pot removed. Maybe there’s an outlier somewhere out there I haven’t met. As of now I feel confident saying I know 90% of the Rank1 players on hardcore or have a friend who knows them and would tell me if they wanted DE removed. I agree with you 100% on everything else you said. I have only proc’d DE pot a few times in my D4 HC journey (I pushed harder knowing I had the option to). All I’ll change with DE pot removal / Flame shield death passive removal is not pushing harder content. I’ll avoid the Pits like the plague and only grind low Tier’s to obtain my mw.
SIDE BAR: Anyone notice how friendly the Hardcore community is? We’re actually liking eachothers post. Every comment here has a like and we all get along well together. This is another reason why I love this side of the fence tbh.

For the poll: don’t remove.
With so many changes, especially the removal of almost all defensive affixes, removing the only real fail safe is just not very smart. And that’s an understatement.
See how things pan out in S4 first.
I’ve seen numerous big threads on this (this topic has made the HC community more alive than ever lol) and the vast majority of people want to keep the potion in - me included though I think it should be a lot harder to craft and not stackable with other elixirs.
I don’t even know how or why they randomly decided to remove it.

Give sc players a taste of hc by making nm dungeons 1 death your out, and see if they would like to use our cheat death pot then.
A compromise:
If you use a cheat death elixir and it procs, instead of being saved, your character is banished to softcore without anything from your stash.
i wouldnt mind a ring item that gives you a cheat death that breaks on use and either gets deleted or has to be repaired with gold, hardcore has no use for blacksmith repairs and would give it a small use, i dont mind the cheat death pot going away if we get another way to get it, and the ring could be for both soft and hard core like the necklace in d3. As for why a ring slot, it is because the necklace is so needed on every build and character to have decent defense to survive.

Like others have said → LE way is better in this case. Bring back cheat death elixir or move char to SC on death.
