After speed clearing Pit 60s for days, I lost my super barb with 2 uber uniques on a Pit 60 to a likely tormented shadow clone at the pit boss. I couldn’t even see what killed me with so many dust devils around me. I knew Elias was in there and easy to dodge but just got the message I was killed by myself after leaping onto the boss that had 1/4 hp left. I was full hp barely taking damage and then dead. This compeltely killed my desire to play this game. Although, I solely enjoy the hardcore experience in ARPGs, it’s unviable when there is no way to predict or avoid shadow clones you cannot see unless you decide to not attack. If hardcore players can’t viably attempt pit runs with random one shot shadow clones, then the end game is essentially pointless for hardcore players. It’d be better off not having hardcore to begin with so I can simply quit the game knowing it doesn’t even exist and move on to another game where hardcore is viable.
Blizzard needs to stop giving us hope that the game is “fixed” each season when clearly not enough testing goes into their decisions (even with PTR) and only after enough people complain about them do they actually consider fixing them. #D4StillBad

YeA I was t145 and the frostcaller 1 shotted my 45k hp necro. NO TELEGRAPH of the attack. Just boom dead. Half a screen wide, no reaction time
I got 2 other necros at 100 already i really dont care the characters dead
Just dont see the point in playing Pit endlessly to upgrade items to get to a boas that just takes a long time and isnt fun and has no level of skill to beat the 1 shotting
Just a joke they let bosses do 50k damage in one hit

I’m assuming you meant monster level 145 not pit level 145? The latter is crazy.
Anyway I lost my previous char randomly getting 1shot at pit53. Fun…

Lost my lvl 100 druid yesterday on tier 42 on spirit caller. Had 52k life, weapon 8/12, rest of armour 7/12.
No hard feelings, its a chance to try out other druid changes + another resplendant spark from the Iron Wolves reputation quest.

I think the game would feel better if the one-shots were removed from the boss fights. Currently potions almost have no value. Your healthy or your dead, theres no middle ground.
Also I think you shouldn’t go overboard with damage that should be avoided. People that pick melee builds want to get in the fight and not dance around a boss the whole time.
Overall experience: was sceptical, but Im having fun.
The best addition is tempering: being able to build further on a skill. I focussed on Lacerate, a skill I thought that needed a rework. But with increased duration and extra damage it finally worked for me. Had fun with it.

Honestly, I’d have no issues with one shot mechanics if they were easily telegraphed and we had time to actually react to it.

That’s crazy u were built better than me , frost boss is dumb as hell . Yea i mesny t45 lvl145. Mobs r easy then boss just 1 shots. I Had it half HP and stunned but it destroyed me in a second or less
Update, lost another Bash Barb on first run with Grandfather testing build in Pit60 (really not that powerful). At least i could see the shadow lilith mechanics that one shot you and i started to see them in every boss fight>59. Ive seen Lilith claw swipe 3 times at you avoided by running/evading around, lilith ground spikes avoided by standing on the right side and raining blood pools that zero in to you though i dont think the hit the middle. I panicked and thought i could evade between the pools before they hit the middle but alas no chance and dead (think you just have to stand in the middle). It does add a definite adrenaline rush but still sucks to lose well geared chatacters, glyphs, etc. Nevermind leveling cause thats not too hard but regearing is just too much of a chore and not fun losing it all in 1 hour of pit pushing/speed farming mats when it took 20 hours to reach that point. 1/20 ROI of time investment to push the pit further is just not worth it.
In the end, I think Lilith ALWAYS spawns every 30 seconds or so in EVERY pit boss. The thing is, the early pit bosses are cleared so fast, you won’t encounter her but later pit runs (I cleared through 69), I saw her every time after roughly the same amount of time in the boss fight (I estimate 30 seconds). It would be nice if the oneshots were replaced with tormented stacks like the uber bosses so you can still learn to avoid them early one and at the highest levels, when they oneshot you by pure damage, you’ll already know the mechanics. I cleared the 3 easiest ubers bosses and it was fun not being oneshoted and managing with tormented stacks so i could use escape scroll if the risk was too high.
I heard that Lilith only spawns at 60 or 61 or something like that. Which is why one of those was the soft “danger” cap before 1shots started.
Agreed I’d much rather they have a stacking debuff instead of 1shotting.
OR buff the bosses’ hp more and reduce their damage so it’s more of a slog fight not who blows up who first. The bottleneck should be your damage output and not having enough potions / life to survive a long fight. Maybe even have a soft/hard enrage timer. It’s fine for bosses to do a lot of damage when it gradually scales up but not the 1shot fiesta I keep reading about.
Or ideally, bring back the death evasion potion. Make it a lot harder to craft so you have to to be very picky with it (someone even suggested several-24 hour cooldown on it). But have it available when trying to test out new pushing content. It’s a bit frustrating not being able to push just because I have no idea what to expect and going from easy clears to suddenly getting 1shot is kind of a ridiculous jump in difficulty.
I easily cleared 56 yesterday without any issues (within 5 minutes and took a few hits during boss for like 30% hp) and unlocked 59 which I was going to try today because it should be easily doable. Except now after seeing your post it sounds like even 59 is a huge gamble which makes me super hesitant. There is just no way to know without trying and the risk isn’t worth trying. Bad design all around really.
My strategy is to have as much tankiness as possible, and equip the bubble. The moment it pops, I scroll out.
That’s basically what I’m doing but I don’t think bubble will save you from a 1shot? It only activates if you take a lot of damage but survive I think. It also activates kind of too easily when you don’t want it to (maybe 50-60% hp would be better) so I wouldn’t have enough scrolls for that
basically after pit 61 you can die from 1 shot from the pit bosses mostly. My death in pit so far Pit 47 (casual farming but died to outlaw boss) and recently yesterday died at pit 70 (my rouge is 66khp with 66k fortify). So yeah once you get above pit 61, no matter how much hp/dmg reduct/fortify/barrier you have , 1 shot can happen. My friend’s barb instant melt at pit 68 boss with 120k hp and 120k fortify, go figure…
Bubble is not protecting you from 1 shots…
I have lost several HC Chars this season where bubble was not on Cooldown and it didnt trigger when my char was 1shot.
Good point.
There are no defensive aspects that can save us from the oneshots from pitbosses, content we play over and over and that is part of the progression of our characters.
There is a word for this: Silly.

Exactly this.
You know that there is something utterly wrong when a minion necro with capped defenses, shako 20% dmg reduce, Golem 30% dmg reduce, 12% close dmg reduce from talents, Shield and so on can get 1 shotted without any possibility to save himself…
Harcore is also a game. Its main purpos is to create fun.
Getting killed, being able to learn, progress further because you learned - this creates fun.
Getting killed no matter what you do because Blizzard messed up game mechanics is not creating fun. This only creates frustration.
This is how you lose players.
