Due to a what I believe is a game freeze from a recent patch, I was on route to face Lilith when my game unexpectedly froze. As a result my character died. I am beyond right now to lose a character for something beyond my control. I would like to know if there is anything that can be done about my losses. I understand the rules of a Hc character and death is understood, but death by game freeze while the team launches a patch was not what i agreed to.

I lost my 48 HC character earlier today and when I went to make a ticket, they had a post about HC deaths:
Hardcore characters cannot be revived, regardless of whether the reason for death was in your control or not. All hardcore deaths are final.
Note: Customer Service cannot restore a hardcore character by any means.
Basically, we are out of luck and can start a new character.
I still made a ticket about it though as I think it is extremely unfair to not be reimbursed when these things happen that are out of your control.

Wow I also just lost a level 49 and a half character due to a game freezing forcing me to ctrl alt delete and then when I came back my character was dead. So dumb honestly like I understand hardcore is hardcore, but when you die to something you have no control over because the game just breaks that’s just not right.
hardcore is basically unplayable right now due to frequent game freezes, I can’t believe they let this happen it’s really sad. I’ve made it to level 10 twice and both times died due to game freeze, I love hardcore but unfortunately I’m unable to continue trying when this is what happens, what’s the point
Hardcore is a risk you accept when you tick that box. There is no reimbursement for anything. When I first started playing HC in D2 LOD one of the major HC killers was Duriel because he could attack you while you were loading into his domain. You basically had to pray your character survived long enough until you loaded in.
I had the Battle Chest which included the game manual. I remember there being a line in there that stated something about, Blizzard will never restore a hardcore character even if the reason for death is due to lag, your little sister, or acts of god. Don’t even ask. Lalala, we can’t hear you.
Such an amazing sentence. Wish I still had it.
Anyway, sorry for your loss but that’s the sad nature of HC.
Unfortunately, they 100% can not do anything about a HC death. If they help anyone (even in a legitimate reason, such as yours) then EVERYONE will appeal their death. Just like the HC community on World of Warcraft does. If whatever reason gets the death appealed, the cheaters will use that to simulate right as they die, to get out of rerolling. (d/c viable for an appeal? Then have a disconnect button, or unplug your cable).
As unfair as it is, for you personally, it’s the only way to make it fair for everyone.
