I really like that Blizzard keeps doing these in-game events during the holidays. It adds a little extra to the game and keeps a little freshness amongst so much stale while grinding.
Be great if they ever worked right on launch.
mine is working just fine
imho, I think this event is lazy AF compared to say the christmas event. where you actually did stuff in-game to earn things. now its just “spawn a thing at a shrine” and “just throw the crap for free in the shop”.
They put literally no effort into it. I dunno why you are praising it lmao

They don’t have to do anything.

It spices up something that is meh at best(Dungeons).
seen D4 as a whole? launch was a mess and we spent months beta testing it. Xpac arguably went backwards from last season in enjoyment.
dont expect much until they know what the frick they are doing and not tossing darts at random.
the mothers blessing is nice. i think they disabled most of the cool stuff because of crashing. i was getting burning butcher for free every horde, etc. can we get the gold buff from last season maybe? the one now is doodie
March of the Goblins was better.
Idea for event: Pumpkin Goblins.
First you have to do some decorating in towns and cities.
All goblins have various jack o lantern helms. Knock the helm off for a 25% chance for that cosmetic jack o lantern helm to drop. But watch out the helms give the goblins new powers.
Dungeons have a chance to open to All Hallows Eve version of that dungeon. These dungeons have 3-7 pumpkin gobs. 25% chance for boss of dungeon to be pumpkin boss and drop 4 times the loot. The bosses can also drop cosmetics the same as gobs.
Horde waves have a chance to spawn 1 pumpkin gob that will immediately drop loot.
Pits will sometimes have 1 to 3 pumpkin gobs at the boss.
Helltides have a chance for headless horsemen that pumpkin gobs will portal in to worship him. This is treated as a world boss event.
25% XP bonus and 50% gold bonus.
Another 10% XP bonus and 25% gold bonus while having a pumpkin cosmetic equipped.
Collect all 10 helms for the Headless Horseman mount and armor.
Interesting concept.
Ohhh and we earn the title Gob Stopper??
Urza, you always have creative ideas. I really enjoy reading them.
It adds nothing because nmds are dead.
haha this is very clever and thank you!
The event should actually tie to the realm walker thingy… to give the seasonal content a boost. Not dungeon, who run dungeon nowdays???
Obducite farming with Craft drops Seething Opals is pretty decent if you consider how fast you can farm an NMD.
I net 1500 per run OFTEN and it’s way faster than a 10 wave.
I like this idea as well. Have realmwalkers spawn pumpkin goblins or drop Seething Opals of Treats or Tricks. Sometimes the portal thing after is just full of butchers or full of treasure goblins. Kill all the butchers for a nice prize. Pumpkin gobs drop 2x loot of other gobs and pumkin spice. Pumpkin spice is tradable at a pumpkin vendor for cool stuff like halloween cosmetics like a pumpkin sword or jack o lantern helm. You could also buy seething opals of tricks or treats at the vendor along with a random selection of runes per 4 hours and also 1 chance at a random mythic with tons of spice.
Seething Opal of Tricks: Chance on kills to spawn a pumpkin goblin. Also gain rep and XP like others with a 20% bonus if you have on a pumpkin cosmetic (helps get players in the theme and showing them off).
Seething Opal of Treats: Seething Opal of Treats: Chance on kills to spawn candy. Candy has 4 rarities and stacks to 999 and can be sold for $ based on rarity to vendors. Candy can be traded and has a stable value even after event is over. Also gain rep and XP like others with a 20% bonus if you have on a pumpkin cosmetic (helps get players in the theme and showing them off).
Calling this an event is an even bigger event.
Agree. They really didn’t put thought into it. The butcher idea was lazy and so is the look of the free cosmetics. Especially the horse but all the weapons are lacking too. They took a couple of crappy skins and put a little blood on it and was like well thats good enough. Then the entire QA team went on vacation so they completely skipped testing and we got a literal halloween flaming bag of dog poop that we are expected to stomp out.
You’re right, they don’t have to do anything. This expansion proves that.
Also what’s so spicy about click a shrine and kill something? That’s literally in the normal game since……well ever.
I am of the total opposite opinion.
I think games should quit doing such events.
Even more so with a game like Diablo which is theoretically getting major patches every 6 weeks or so. (season start and mid season).
This kind of things can be added permanently.
I can get behind some cute changes to the world. (like for example decorating the towns for Christmas)
But a simple shrine effect? That can stay forever.
