This may seem like a controversial topic to some, but the haircut selection for “Body type 1” rogues thus far is woefully lacking in customization.
My options (though I have not checked yet the other classes in the game) are from 11 selections ranging from bald, haircuts that are stereotypical of African Americans, a single Matthew Mercer styled haircut, a topknot, and female haircuts.
I never thought that I’d be someone asking Blizzard for “inclusivity” but here I am asking, and hoping, that the beta is not indicative for ALL of the haircuts available to “body type 1” rogue players because this ain’t it chief. You get 30 different hair colors as options and some are even laughably the color chromatic highlight tipped styles which is great all things considering that more customization is better.
Why then does it feel that, as a white dude playing D4, my options are to either be bald, have a center-part haircut, appropriate black haircuts, or use a feminine haircut?
note this is of minor importance for all of the ones who will undoubtedly say “yeah but you’ll be wearing a helmet the entire time so it won’t matter”, cinematics show your character’s face with helmet off.
Edit: Only now finding out that three of the last options for skin tones are literally vitiligo which affects .5% of the population of the earth.
I do not believe that people who have vitiligo should be disenfranchised from a game, my only complaint is that a far greater population of the world (not just the United States and the EU), do not have appropriate haircuts present for them.
I’m not looking to cosplay as something fantastical as my first character, no blood sacrifice tattoos or runny makeup for me. Just me if I was in the game. It’s pretty basic, but that’s what I want… what I kinda expected to get.
