I’ve got a level 35 barb.
I maxed him in the beta too.
You’re not gonna like what I have to say.
Ready?
I have unlimited Fury and can spin to win forever without any Aspects or legendaries that enable it. Like you can do this out of the gate without any items that enhance it.
I have Frenzy + WW, War Cry, Shout, WotB and Leap.
The misconception here is that the basic attacks are the primary fuel for fury generation. It’s not. That’s the supplement. War Cry gives you Fury. Leap gives you fury, the shout that causes the taunt gives you fury when you get hit.
If there are elites I can spin forever, if there is a group of dudes, I can spin forever. Dude has no issues with fury management.
You’re suffering from diablo syndrome. I.E. there are a ton of variables, and you need to understand all your selections and choices, and you built a brick rather than making choices that work.
The game is fresh, and I don’t have any dps leggos or +skill rank gear, so I can’t really say. My DPS feels a little low for World Tier 2, but I also have trash gear; but nothing is a struggle except the strongholds…
I wonder what it’ll be once I get some strong leggos and I start min/maxing.
Melee characters are always harder in game like this, because you have to face tank things to get anything done, this means you either have to be exceptional at playing, or you have to have exceptional understanding of itemization and rank choices when compared to ranged characters that can just fire from the distance.
If you could just face tank, there would be no difficulty in the game. Diablo is supposed to be hard. You’re supposed to use that difficulty as a barrometer of power and validation of your choices. If it’s easy, you’re doing things right, if it’s hard – you’ve got to re-evaluate your choices.
Really all the characters are like this, but sometimes synergies between skills and builds in general are more obvious to certain people. I think the game is too young to evaluate DPS efficiency, keep in mind there are a metric ton of affixes and stats to juice up; gems, aspects, paragon boards, lilith altars, like – there are a ton of ways to gain strength, and you’ve got to build it and seak it.
I know Altars of lilith don’t see powerful with stats like +2 attribute… But, when you add them ALL up; suddenly they start moving the needle.
