When grouped in a party many of the main story cutscenes and dialogs either don’t play the scenes for all party members or play for the main member and then skip the dialog entirely for the other members but still complete the quest objectives. Making experiences the story together with friends nearly impossible.
same issue. if its a cutscene after killing a boss or other events or quests i see nothing while my party members can see the cutscene. luckily they can stream it so i can enjoy them but its still frustrating
Same issue here, nice and immersion breaking for my friends.
I was playing with my partner and found that if he skipped a cut scene, it would skip for me too, which was annoying, as I want to follow the story and watch all of the cut scenes, but he has already seen them and understandably doesn’t want to sit through them again. So either I miss out on cut scene story snippets or he has to sit and watch them for the fifth time.
I also noticed that if he started a cut scene before me, it would start for me regardless of what I was doing. Is this intended? I found it really jarring and irritating, doing my own thing and suddenly a cut scene starts. Probably fine if you’re on your second+ run, but really annoying if it’s your first playthrough of the game. It made me want to stop playing in a group and play alone instead.
I have been having the exact same problem… I get zero cutscenes whilst my team gets all of them. Luckily I can run to my partner’s computer to watch, but I never get to see my character, only his. I started off being understanding but now I am so frustrated by this!! I have now gone from act 2-6 with no cutscenes… we’re about to start act 6 and I am disheartened and finding it hard not to run over every time there might be a cutscene… It’s very irritating and zapping my fun.
i’m having the same issue, almost all cutscenes when playing coop i can only hear the sound of it
I reported this during all 3 betas
I am also having this issue :'(.
Same here, can’t play with my friend like this, sometimes it works and sometimes not. Also i gifted it to him cus he is a massive diablo enjoyer, guess what; he lost fun cus nothing works and the mechanic makes no sense at all and now quits the game.
“Be Kind to community members” so f*** you Blizzard, greedy a** bastards.
Got big on the enthusiasm of your community and now you just milk them like cows. WP
Same thing here for two of us.
Same issue. Hate it. Cutscenes are an important break from button-mashing, they break it up.
I’ve experienced this as well.
Based on my experience, it seems like the issue is that unless I click the main quest dialog on an NPC really quickly after my party mate does, the game just displays a message that my party mate did the cutscene and then flags the quest as complete for me.
As there’s no journal or quest replay system(That I’m aware of, please correct me if I’m wrong here), it means that all you really see is a (quickly flashed and faded) message that the party member did or skipped a cutscene (I forget the exact message), and the quest just auto updates to the next step.
Given the bare bones text in the quest log, it means a lot of the time you’re left with no context for what you’re now expected to be doing. It’s maddening!
Despite there being the above mentioned text re: the cutscene skip/completed, having the game actually flag MY quests feels like a bug. Surely it can’t be intended that in an online co op setting, only one person is expected to be able to see story content?
I really feel that all the cutscenes/dialog need to have the flags be fully individual. This way if you’re partied up and one person wants to mess around in town and one doesn’t, the person in town isn’t screwed over seeing all the quest cutscenes/dialog when they’re ready for it.
Yah, this happens to me when I’m playing with friends on XBox from my PC. Not sure if that’s related or just the fact I’m in a party. Really weird staring at the face of a cliff for 2 minutes in quiet instead of seeing the cutscene.
For now, I have to play the campaign solo so I don’t miss the cinematics.
I think we should give credit where its due. The store works completely fine with no issues at all.
I have similar issues. My partner or I will often miss out on cutscenes when one clicks on an NPC; very infuriating and immersion-breaking, even. At this point, we’re practically avoiding main-act questlines and doing side quests until this gets resolved. I hope Blizzard takes notice and fixes this eventually.
Can we please get a response from the devs on this? This is incredibly immersion-breaking and ruins parts of the story if you are going through them for the first time while grouped in a party. We’re being penalized for running through the campaign for the first time in a group. It’s frustrating.
Happening for me and my hubby as well cause we’re playing through it together and it’s really frustrating. I’m having to read out loud what is happening/being said. We need this fixed ASAP above anything else right now.
Yeah same issue here. Kinda glad to know I’m not alone. But that indeed needs high attention since cutscenes play an important role in terms of immersion and general appreciation of the main story quest … And I haven’t seen any bug that was more annoying than this one to be honest.
To give some details, we’re a party of 3 and only one of us sees all cutscenes, the other 2 see their player camera with subtitles only the whole time (I guess only the player who invites the 2 others can see cutscenes). The bug doesn’t occur in “blood petals” cutscenes (at least for now, and we just finished Act II), but rather in big CGI cutscenes and some minor cutscenes too.
Im having the same issue and its really annoying cause I want to enjoy the game with my friends and this is making it really difficult to enjoy, i hope they get this fixed ASAP.
