Grim Dawn was fun

…Still better?
I like this game and plan to continue playing. But just a thought…

sure, it is better than Diablo 3 and 4.

kind of an underrated ARPG.

The dual-classing in it was very fun but the game lost steam and replayability real quick once you near cap out. My Occultist/Shaman Vitality Caster could blow through extremely high Shards and the Colliseum was a joke.

Whatever the Piercing Superboss that had the gold stuff underground was nearly impossible and Crate was dumb for it. The only time I would die in high shards is when there was an Of The Void Elite that turned orf my like 8 buffs and I would die immediately. For the most part, I could see them and anticipate them and tank 3-4 Nemesis bosses at once.

This is the diablo forum, not the grim dawn forum.

Grim Dawn in an ARPG. Diablo 4 is an MMO with some ARPG mechanics.

What is the difference?

Grind.

I don’t know why but I didn’t like Grim Dawn, I also didn’t like POE.

In what sense? Getting perfect gear in Diablo 4 is like an absolute time investment, something i certainly wont do. But the grind is there for sure.

I’ve just read about the 1.2 patch they are about to release for their 7 year old game…wish blizzard did patches like this. kudos to crate!

Yep, was a good game. Very interesting to play, nice story too. A bit old now though.

Grinding levels is an MMO activity, it’s got nothing to do with what ARPG fans enjoy about ARPGs. Diablo 2 is also not a real ARPG, in this regard. If you look back at the origins of the genre, this level grind crap was added on well after the fact, and has only been successful in the live-service flavor of these games. Live-service, like an MMO.

Grim Dawn was kind of a mess! It’s Titan Quest 1.5, a decade late to its own party. It’s got that really stiff action, and if your game’s character sheet has two tabs of elemental resistances, that’s at least one tab too many!

Not sure what you mean, level grind is pretty much a staple of ARPGs, its the primary source of character progression. Grim Dawn has it as well.

I have completed the campaign and every expansion for GD on four characters. I’ve never grinded levels for a minute.

There is a difference between leveling, and grinding levels.

I literally got lost in Grim Dawn, so I stopped playing. It’s a great game if you have the navigation skills of a mariner or a boy scout.

Even if that’s the case for you, it can be had for less than $10 on sale, which is pretty often.

POE was just a camera perspective issue for me. A bit close!

Do you mean the difference is that your character reaches max. level during the campaign you are playing for the third time as opposed to a character having to go through dungeons or whatever to reach the limit? Doesnt Grim Dawn offer an arena for people to level up in, so they dont have to play the campaign anymore?

It has its flaws like all other existing A-RPGs.
But best itemization in an A-RPG so far, and easily top 1-3 A-RPG of all time.
