Great Job Blizzard - Season 4 is New, Fun, Challenging, and A Huge Step In the Right Direction!

Honestly I’m loving this season. The new loot mechanics + pit + helltide changes have really made this game fun for me.

I’m having a blast trying to configure gear and when I get a new drop it can change my whole setup. I now have challenging goals to achieve. Even with the RNG of greater affixes, tempers, etc I’m enjoying the gambling aspect / chase of new exciting gear.

So many people are complaining about not having the perfect gear a week after S4 launched and it’s disappointing to see.

I’m playing a rogue and using shadow imbue rapid fire, it’s not the best, I can’t 1 shot all the bosses, but I’m having a blast pushing pits (did t76 last night) and I just made some +6 rapid fire gloves with masterwork 4/8.

Random Suggestion: Would love to see something like Uber Diablo from D2. Perhaps after a certain # of masterwork 8 or 12’s are completed it can spawn an uber boss (can only be completed once per account but would stay open for a day or something so everyone would have a chance to fight it) that can drop a valuable inventory item (charms or something).

Or perhaps some magic find charms to boost our chances of getting greater affix drops.

You’re wanting D2 mechanics in a game that’s built entirely different (read inferior)

The difference is in D2 getting those items actually means something, and so MF was a desirable trait because achieving that item drop was hard without it. It was also singular purpose, didn’t work for runes or whites so everyone every season had a dedicated mf character or build in their stash they would swap between.

Now, there’s about a third of the items available if that, and you can clear upwards in Pit with simple legendaries, for most builds Uniques aren’t even that desirable and don’t have that same WOW factor items in D2 had.

I would love for them to turn over the tables and make a good game that was more like D2 and less like a slot machine of wasted time, but here we are.

Thanks for the comment. IIRC diablo 2 had a ton of junk uniques. I had so many mule accounts storing items that I would probably never use because you could get items for any class but that’s not the case in D4 (except some uber uniques I think).

I guess this isn’t the case for you but for me I actually get a little stoked on every GA drop I find. I’m always looking for upgrades because of the GAs and my best gear atm only have 1 GA.

So my random suggestion is to use inventory items (charms?) to increase GA drop rates. Or a charm like you get from uber diablo which boosts stats.

As I said I actually enjoy the gambling aspect. It satisfies my gambling itch.

I cannot stop playing this season. I keep skipping gym!!!

Yea the GA drops are keeping the game exciting. Masterwork takes a ton of farming and I keep finding new upgrades that need to be masterworked.

“Junk” is subjective though. D2 also had a healthy trade community so what would be junk to your build might be treasure to someone else. Even unoptomized gear like trangs could fetch a high price. Now the way that gear works I only get gear drops for my specific class, and ubers are non-tradeable, which means every drop is either junk or not, its binary and not fun. Even non perfect drops in D2 were fun to get, a plus skills or a high res item would be sufficient in a lot if builds if not bis.

I don’t hate the new system, I think its quite good, I just wish it was attached to items that gave you any sort of actual power upgrade beyond wipe or be wiped. I also wish the game that system existed in had more content to engage in with the gear I spent all that time rolling. Until something is done about that people are going to pick it up first week of season then move off to other things.

Best season so far, been having the most fun in a diablo game since diablo 2 LoD came out.

Yes this is the best season so far!

Stop doing that lmao!!! Im guilty myself dude, but at the end of the day we’re only cheating ourselves bro.

Yeah. The price you pay is not worth it

its the best yet, hyuck hyuck. The best. I love it. Do you accept me yet blizzard fanboy community? Do you hear me blizzard devs? do you LOVE me!?!!?!?

Agree. I am also having a blast. The changes are a big step in the right direction. I hope they keep pumping out quality like this.

Yea. 1 Step in the right direction. 2 Steps in the wrong direction.

right direction - Loot rework is good and the tempering masterworking adds some longevity. (finaly 1 year later)

wrong direction - Sadly they once again unecessary powerbuffed the chars to totaly trivialized “ALL” content below pit lv 65 or so. So basicly 99% of the content is a cakewalk.

wrong direction 2- the pit. Once again with have this beautiful Open World to play but we are forced into these pipe Levels where you run along a path and kill a boss. Over and Over and Over and Over and Over again.

Credit where credit is due, the Loot system is better now.

But what is it good for if you kill the whole game at the same time. Hell new players can’T even enjoy the story any more as it is totaly trivialised. You can probably kill Lilith in 5 seconds now.

Well let’s be fair… When the content was difficult, all people did was complain. Remember Echo of Lilith? I actually beat her with my poison TB rogue back in S1 but it took hundreds of tries and some luck. Now we have the pit which can be difficult as you progress and everyone is complaining again.

Remember S2 with the vampiric powers that made everyone really strong? Majority of players loved that, so much that they brought back some of the powers as aspects to make players happy.

Now we have a mix of easy / difficult content and people are once again complaining that they don’t have perfectly rolled gear + can’t beat pit in the 1st week…

At some point you have to admit the player base is never going to be 100% happy with the game.

But right now I see a healthy mix of content for all different types of players and the new loot system allows you to customize and focus on a build you like.

Go play D2R. It exists.

Yea but people did not complain that it is difficulty. People complain about unecessary bulletsponges, broken hitboxes, badly telegraphed moves.

Same now in the pit. You deal enough dmg too cakewalk through high pit levels but at the boss you need several minutes to beat it while 1 mistake oneshots you. Top of the problem is Blizz did not made the effort to make decent bosses, instead they reuse what they got, scale the craap out of it and throw another “Shadow” boss on top to completely spam the arena.

In Short. people do enjoy difficult content, they hate broken/unbalanced difficult.

That is the fascination behind the soulslike genre. It is hard, but fair.

That is cause the game attracts a wide range of people and blizz does not offer a clear scope.

Here i can again point to souls. These games are loved by many,. even by casuals. They might need longer to learn the game but they still enjoy it. They know what they can expect.

In Diablo no one knows what to expect., but in a bad way.

Diablo has never been super easy, infact D1 and D2 where notoriously hard for casuals. How many tears have been shed due to Duriel? But poeple got used to it.

D4 however is super easy and super hard at the same time.

Imagine you play dark souls. Every trash mob is a total cakewalk. braindead easy. Then comes a boss. That boss now is totaly broken. bulletsponge that takes minutes to kill and he will kill you with 1 blow. Badly telegrafed blow with broken hitboxes.

That is Diablo. 99% of the content is a boring cakewalk, 1 % is hard, but not in a fun way.

Recently played V Rising and was reminded how well boss encounters can be made, Challenging without having one shot mechanics and feel rewarding when you finally beat them.
Whilst i enjoyed this season it still blows my mind that a company with Blizards resources can’t make fun challenging boss fights.

You are either on drugs or have a serious mental disorder. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah-- good times. Love playing rogue again!!!

and a lot of bugs… i wonder how long we have do deal with so many bugs in a single game… Lots of crashes, freezes, lags, the annoying horse knock back, sorcerer entirely broken, NMD that cannot be completed, missing items, items not getting dropped, extreme lack of gold and everything is expensive, lack of materials to make gems, the horses are tired, the cd between charges is too long and now you can be dismounted and the CD to mount again is too long too… I reset master working 3 times and 3 times the system pick the same affix to empower… the list is long.
