Graphics Optimization Urgent Before Launch

I have yet to see any dev/cm acknowledgement of the issues many of us are having on high end rigs (like 3080s, 2070s, etc., with i7 and i9 processors) unable to play on even medium textures/settings without regular graphics hiccups/stutters. High is unplayable. I’ve tried just about everything I can do to optimize things on my family’s computers, and so far the only one NOT having as bad of issues is the old one running a 1080. Turning down graphics settings reduces the amount of issues, but they’re still there. This has seriously affected my enthusiasm for this game’s launch, and I hope they are able to resolve it (and acknowledge that they know it’s an issue).

My 3060 founders catches on fire unless on low settings:(

Early on I got some advice to set my 3080 to medium textures, DLSS balanced. I don’t feel I should have had to dial it that far down, but as soon as I did my graphics were smooth and the GPU was calm.

I hope this gets fixed but meanwhile I think the advice I got was probably the best advice for now.

3070 here, I did the same here and while my GPU sounds like it’s going to take off into orbit the overall performance hasn’t been that bad from what I can tell.

I would argue that you shouldn’t have to use Medium textures on a 3080, hopefully they look into that.

Even on high my 3080 isn’t working that hard from a power and utilization perspective. But it’s using 100% of VRAM even on medium textures and stuttering. Game looks beautiful on high but is unplayable.

I’m running 3070 on an liquid-cooled I9 11900k / 32gb ram and the game is barely playable, runs at 100 - 120FPS then stutters down to 0 often, or 20/30FPS and I’ve noticed changing the setting from high to medium to low don’t change that stuttering, so its obviously something else like a memory leak or bad optimization going on.

The only thing that minorly improved the stuttering was changing DLSS to performance and it became a bit more playable. Even the ping doesn’t really show any lag issues, even when the server is rubber-banding like crazy so the ping isn’t showing the full picture here.

Earlier, I couldn’t leave the town as it was rubber-banding so badly, yet ping was pretty much stable at around 80msec, so either there is an issue with packet loss from the blizz servers to everyones clients, or the game is having issues.

i clicked some hi rez texture thing when i downloaded initially.

i’m wondering if high textures would cause less issues if i didnt click that thing heh

Yeah, uninstall it. If you aren’t using them no reason to have it installed.

I’m glad the 4090s will be put to work.

If a 4090 was the recommended GPU I wouldn’t be as frustrated as when the recommended card is 5 generations old…

I hope so too, but mostly for selfish reasons since I wnat my 1070 to do better XD My computer fans are spinning up after a few hours playing this game and I dont like it one bit.

We need acknowledgement on this. However I have noticed this stuttering only happens with Blizzard game’s specifically at least lately. I know nvidia has a habit of releasing faulty drivers but I’m pretty sure all of this is on blizzards end.
