GPU/fan speeding up every 1-2 minutes

Hi,

Every 1-2 minutes my GPU/cpu fan speeds up alot. I think its the GPU. It goes from being silent to very loud for a few seconds then back to silent. It started about 2-3 days ago I think but I’m not 100% sure on that. My gpu temp is about 50c.

What could have caused it?

sometimes when i do something like connect a bluetooth device near my PC the fans go crazy. but usually it means your video card and or power supply are having problems. are they old?

My computer is less then a year old. Bought it in June last year. This was a problem when my FPS was uncapped but I capped it at 100 which solved the problem. That was when I started diablo 4 back in January. Now since a few days I have this problem of GPU/CPU fan speeding up ocassionally. FPS is still capped at 100.

What GPU do you have? If you have a higher end 30 series or any 40 series, the VBIOS defaults to running your fans silent until the GPU hits 50C, then turns the fans on to cool it below 50C at which point it goes silent again. Sadly that’s “normal” for these cards and frankly it’s just better overall to set a fan curve such that your fans are always on at a minimum of 30% even below 50C, and then set up a curve that increases them once your GPU hits 50C, adjusting the fans higher as the temp goes higher. This will prolong both your GPU itself and the fans, as the fans will no longer be starting and stopping constantly, which is absolute hell on their motors.

Edit: 30% was noted as the minimum because the fans on these GPUs will not run at all unless set to at least 30% of maximum speed. Anything lower and they remain off until the GPU hits 50C.

It could be the ventilation of your entire PC. It happens to me too 2 months ago but I solved it after after clean the dust of every fan in my PC and also the dust filter of my PC too.
