GPU usage drastically increases when opening inventory and (specially) at blacksmith and other similar vendors

Since Blizzard is trying to pass us the hot potato about this serious issue, I suggest you to keep opening threads about this problem.

The issue is widespread and well known. It has been happening since beta, and it’s easily reproducible: use an application to monitor your GPU stats (msi afterburner for example), keep attention to the in-game numbers, and open the inventory. You will see a sudden spike in GPU activity, and a increase of temperature. But this issue can be even worse: go to blacksmith, for example, and open his window UI. The GPU activity now will just skyrocket because now the UI is rendering THREE screens: the vendor, the main game screen and our character model in our inventory.

This issue is partially mitigated by capping framerate below 70 fps. Yes, the spike still happens, but at least it will not fry your GPU. But this is a bandaid. It’s not a solution. We should be able to play this game at 100-120 fps without toasting our hardware. So everyone who is experiencing this issue: keep opening threads about this. Blizzard is trying to put the blame on our side, and it’s pretty clear that the issue is on their side.

For the meantime, as a bandaid, you can cap your FPS at 60. It also helps to reduce your GPUs power to 80%.
