GPU power usage seems a bit high

And all opened and NDA betas the problem seem to be there. For me some other people but not everybody.
The power usage on my GPU at default recommended settings the game is pulling 400 to 480 Watts of power.
For me it’s not going to hurt me since I have my overclocking loop on it. But other people this might burn their systems up.
Maybe something to look into.

Kingpin 3090 is my card

You know what would actually be useful to include in your post?

What GPU you’re using…

There’s known issue with power usage when having Vendor Window opened up. Workaround is to disable nVidia Reflex.

Thank you I will try to disabling reflex. But the power issue is at any point in the game at all times. That thing pulls like a wild hog

Agreed. I think this is a big problem that people arent realizing.

Theres a lot of people getting bsods that are probably current protection and the game is drawing way too much power for certain things. One if them is literally a black menu screen.

Oh that doesn’t sound good.
I wonder if it’s brand issue

ROG Strix 4090 here, This bug may well have contributed to my cablemod 12Vhpwr adapter melting by drawing too much power. It’s worked great for months up until playing Diablo IV this morning. Wish I’d known about this workaround, but you don’t normally expect potentially hardware damaging bugs at the point of release and it was running great on my rig (even it seems whilst the power cable was cooking itself) so didn’t suspect anything until the burning smell manifested.

Yeah, this is one of the situations I was referring to. This is obviously not intended behavior and honestly really dangerous.

6900XT here. I’ve had a few black screen crashes, 3 were hard resets no bsod.

It seems this is more widespread than I knew

“FPS LIMIT” is the key, my monitor has 144Hz and if I set the limit to 144Hz with freesync and everything, the GPU goes to 100% and the game freezes many times. If you limit the frames to 60 (for example) the GPU goes to 40-50%. They will need to fix whatever is causing this, like 100% CPU usage causing more freezes.

Still happening, even underclock/volt the gpu and capping fps to 60 creates massive amounts of coil whine… gotta use headset to drown it out.

this is the only game this is happening in, sure some games create more or less CW but tweaking the AMD settings always reduce/remove it completely, except this fkn game… the d4 devs really have no clue what they are doing it seems.

indie company etc etc
