Hi!
So after asking so much ppl i will try get some help here or the best case Blizzard is going to do something about it.
My gpu load is going boom. the longer i play the worse it gets and im not talking about hours it starts after like 30min and my ram usage is going boom also because of that. when ram reachs 80+% load my screens freeze every time i get an loading screen. after like 45-60min playing and ignoring the freezes it even crashes completly without any error code… it just closes
windows protocol said it had not enough vram.
this has absolutley nothing to do with my hardware. i can play AC shadows without any problems. i can play cyberpunk without any problems and both on max settings.
My system:
CPU ryzen 7 5800x3d
GPU Radeon rx 7900 GRE
ram 32gb 3200mhz g.skill
mb x570 arous elite
i also got an 1000w pcu
no high temp no cpu usage over 50%
no fps drops - just the loadingscreen freezes.
it doesent matter if i play on low or high, with vsync with fsr or something else.
i do not use the high res textures
all drivers up to date
Are you certain the error said “vram” and not another ram reference like virtual memory?
Also, if you would post your most recent or a new FenrisDebug.txt file here after the error occurs that would be helpful.
FenrisDebug.txt is located in your Diablo IV installation folder
Open the file in a text editor, copy its contents to a site like one of these: https://pastebin.com or https://justpaste.it
pastebin only allows for minimal file sizes so if you prefer that site link back multiple pastes. The entire contents of the file are important not just snippets.
this is one where the game just close in loadingscreen.
justpaste.it/6ytr6
the problem is that not each and everytime windows shows an error or something. only when it really crashes… but i usually restarted when it started to freeze.
here the dxdiag but its in german :x

Are you certain the error said “vram” and not another ram reference like virtual memory?
eh my bad. i meant virtual memory. since my system is in german i cant really do a exact translation what the event viewer tells me :x
but let me try: Application popup: Windows - Not enough virtual memory: Not enough virtual memory. The paging file is growing. Memory requests may be denied during this process. See Help for more information.
here an xml from the event viewer but again sadly its in german.
justpaste.it/j0qmn
i can also “try” to force the game closing again after all i just need to play for like an hour. but thats basically the d4 log from the same time the event viewer told me this message.
hmm thank you so far!
my only question is:
i installed d4 and all other games on an 4tb ssd and my os is on an 1tb ssd. for the swap file… if im understanding it correctly i should do that on the 4tb ssd no? (should also be my fastest ssd)
edit: and does it “hurt” my system if i do such changes? im not that experienced with such stuff. im not only playing d4 i would not like to always turn such things on and off :x
According to DTMAce’s post, set it to C: or your fastest drive. 32MB of swap is small compared to the free space you have. (restart Windows after adjusting)
I’m still looking into the files…
Do you still have the PTR installed? If so, I’d recommend uninstalling it.
okay, so i set it to C and i used the 16384MB for min and max.
the same problem again. but this time i “forced” a crash by clicking on time while it is frozen. this results in just closing the game but i get an event in the event viewer

Windows has diagnosed a lack of virtual memory. The following programs are using the most virtual memory: Diablo IV.exe (17404) using 30634229760 bytes, firefox.exe (10288) using 1093390336 bytes, and RadeonSoftware.exe (11900) using 990679040 bytes.
yes firefox is also taking alot of ram but im watching a stream while playing (trying to reproduce things like i normaly do and im watching alot streams while playing my self.)
from the fenrisdebug
justpaste.it/e91ac
should i maybe increase the min/max mb?
ah and i never installed the ptr so im fine on that part
Try upping your min/max to 32000 MB and then reboot the PC.
I’m still not convinced that’s your whole issue though.
Are you running any overlays? If so disable them while testing.
Since you’re watching streams at the same time (multi-monitor), I’d recommend also testing out disabling MPO.
There are a few ways of doing this.
You can download the registry file from nvidia (I know you have AMD)
Or, you can make the adjustments manually.
This is 100% reversible if it doesn’t help.
nvidia’s post (this is a Windows adjustment, not a GPU brand thing) https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5157/~/after-updating-to-nvidia-game-ready-driver-461.09-or-newer%2C-some-desktop-apps
Okay, I went over from the start what you said. You said your game closes without any error message right? I sort of missed this at the start since right afterwards you said “windows protocol said it had not enough vram” which I was immediately thinking virtual memory.
However, you said this next:
Which made me think you do have a virtual memory issue… so we tried that route.
I mean… 30GB of D4 memory usage is HIGH.
I’m looking over your log files and I’m seeing quite a few errors that I don’t have in mine when I compare them.
You could try a game scan/repair through bnet, but I don’t think that’ll fix it.
Your logs have a ton of missing asset errors and I’m not sure if they’re related to excessive data trying to store into memory, or if something in your game files are corrupted, or if this is related to an AMD driver/hardware issue.
This error is concerning a bit C:-WINDOWS-LiveKernelReports-AMD-WATCHDOG-AMD-WATCHDOG-20250413-2345.dmp
The only info I could find on this error without actually analyzing it directly is driver/hardware related to AMD.
After looking into the AMD driver in your DxDiag, yours is slightly dated and I’m hoping an update is needed.
Your RX 7900 GRE driver update: https://www.amd.com/en/support/downloads/drivers.html/graphics/radeon-rx/radeon-rx-7000-series/amd-radeon-rx-7900-gre.html
i updated the gpu driver, i will scan repair d4 files and try it after. but its just in d4. i can play AC shadows without any problems on max settings…
its just so weird. s7 i had kinda the same problems but it wasnt that extreme. while loading were no issue i had freezes when i walked in town and some fps drops that lead to an short freeze when playing. now its just loading screen but kinda worse than before.
i changed nothing but vsync. my problem before was vsync. i turned that off and it was gone
also i forgot to mention: my screen freezes but my sound keeps playing as if nothing is happening. when the screen freezes get to 10+sec my sound will also stop. sound is not tearing or stuttering it just stops playing sound.
edit: it feels like now its even dropping way more frames while just playing. also the problem isnt fixed
edit2: i switched my gpu and used an rtx 3060 to test with it.
i cant reach the 180fps but beeing on 120-150fps and the game feels smooth.
launching the game and walking around made me alot of fps drops but after it kinda loaded it did not happen again.
loading is no issue! sometimes its stuttering in the stream the movement on the stream is like slowmotion for a few sec and then it catches up where the movement speeds heavily up to the “live” point. weird to explain in english
the vram usage is also 100% and the ram usage goes also up but after playing for an hour now and i have not close enough the same issues i have with the 7900gre.
i have to mention that i use the optimized settings from the nvidia app. im gonna switch the gpu now again and use the settings with the 7900gre to check if its maybe an setting issue.
but if it happen again im very sad. i purchased the gpu 1 year ago q.q
yep its the same as before. but i dont understand why this happens in d4 but when i play ac shadows i have 0 problems. when i play cyberpunk i have 0 problems, this is so weird.
