Got one shot from a boss for the last time this season

This boss design philosophy has got to go or I will not be returning to any future seasons. I hate that I’m even writing this but if I don’t complain you’ll keep doing it so just stop with the one shots.

Are your resistances maxed ?
Is your armor maxed ?
How much health do you have?
What boss are you struggling with?
What character are you playing?
What boss powers are you using?

There is a lot of things your not saying…and nobody here can help/give advice for you if you lack the proper information to tell anyone.

The bosses having invuln consistently, and every move one shotting anyone not stacked to the gills. These moves with mili-seconds to react, I don’t feel its build or player issue.
Most of all I would guess it was a D4 dev or higher up seen people from POE talking s#!t and thought it was a challenge. Except D4 doesn’t have the drawn out wind ups POE does, so a lot of players feel the sting. POE has no CD on Dodge and slower action on attacks, allowing room for lag and reaction. D4 has slower movements and faster bosses, and now they hit just as hard. The fan base obviously doesnt care for the changes, except the few that probably play POE too. Or those masochists that you find in line hoping The Butcher pops up for date night in their dungeon crawl.

I think like many of these posts, They aren’t looking for a build critique, they are fed up with the change. Its a rhetorical post. They are looking for acknowledgement and agreement that the changes aren’t for the better.

I was vague , but I understand how the game works just fine. Not looking for help. I’m just expressing that the way bosses are working this season is not fun for me.

K thanks for letting us know your not armor/res capped and stood in bad.

Perhaps the difficulty you are playing you dont meet the gear check for. You should try reducing your difficulty and play on a difficulty that suits you.

I have so many questions but lack the will to ask them

We get that your being vague would explain why no one here gives a :poop:

Armor and res capped, 9k life, Uber Belial on T3 one-shots me with an attack I’ve never seen before because the first time I did him, on T2, I one-shot him in a 2 second fight.

Breath attack, easy to avoid, no problem. Circles on the floor, not step into them, sure, I’m good. Claw slam, ha! Saw that one coming. Oh, what’s that now? semi-circle of red globes around his entire front… Mmm… looks dangerous, better step away… And then BANG, big floor effectt all over the place, instant death. I still don’t know how to avoid that, it went so fast I didn’t process if and where there was a safe spot to retreat to. Or do I attack and destroy the globes? Hard to tell if they were just a glowy effect or objects. My minions sure didn’t attack them, so doesn’t seem likely. I guess I better read a guide or watch a video.

Exactly.

There are very high level, very accomplished players that just skip some of the bosses because they’re just too annoying.

I’ve complained about one shotting bosses, too, that’s one example of a badly balanced encounter. These fights are the other side of the coin. Not better, just bad in a different way.

Have already killed Grigoire, Beast in the ice, and Varshan, and Lorn Zir. Got annoyed with 2nd attempt at Zir. This is all on Tier 1. It’s just not supposed to feel this annoying fighting these bosses before even getting to the higher Torments.

I mostly play HC… doing some SC this season to learn the new boss mechanics. Rule of thumb for me is 1000 HP + 3000 x Torment. So 4K in T1, 7K in T2, 10K in T3, 13K in T4.

There’s no way I step into a ladder boss fight without 4K HP in T1. I’ve done all the bosses in T1 except Lilith… a couple hit me hard but I can lose 3K life and I’m still alive and tapping ‘Q’ to recover.

And boss fights are NOT guaranteed to go into invincible phases… I just fought one of the new ones – Urivar – and took him down so fast he never spawned his knights. And that was with a Hydra sorcerer.

Sorry, no.

I know, you are always with this attitute, that others are the skillless players or too dumb to understand basic mechanics and maybe you are a “hero” or whatever.

He is right in his point. The harbinger or Belial have mechanics, that one shoot you, even with maxed res on T3. And yeah, i talk about maxed without mythics. And they re really fast. If you evaded for example in a, during the evade action shown, red line of the harbinger, you have not enough time to do a second evade or run away. You are landing, can move maybe one meter and then you are dead.

Yeah, you can learn to adept, but i have to agree, i also consider fun as something different.
Massive damage spikes on both sides, player and fiends are crap in my eyes.

No. Next season if you die to a boss, it would also loot you and until you manage to personally kill it , it would benefit from the modifiers on your equipment, pots included.

Bet some knights on this forum would love it.

This is lack of good gear or you are just building your character like last season, with almost no defensive pieces. The vast majority of the mechanics people are calling “one shot mechanics” are just mechanics that punishes you for going full offensive

I killed T3 Belial today for the first time and he doesn’t have a single one shot mechanic. Some of these mechanics hits really hard? Yes, but you can deal with it.

The boss designed like arcade game, fight Duriel is like playing Pac Man. Resistance cap doesn’t help, I have tried to swap my chest with triple DR masterwork Tyrael’s might try to tank the mechanic and still die. As it is designed to wear you down if you don’t evade the mechanic.

Don’t give in to the trolls man

Another 0-post account went upstairs to use the computer - see what you’ve done Rod? :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I tease. It’s just, there’s a LOT of ”target demo” players dropping their controllers to post complaints this season. It’s an interesting trend. Idk what it means… probably not much. Blizz was probably planning to tune down some things anyway, and these changes were meant to gauge how much more “traditional” engagement S8 would bring. They’re probably not impressed by it, so… hang in there. Soon.
