Goblin event, its just “made up numbers” 40 million goblins, how many each then ?
we have ZERO idea (because math is to hard for some …) how many players are playing in the event, what the current login counter is at ?? what the current slaying rate is ??
if we knew 6000 people where playing, we would know we each need to kill 6,666 goblins each and 1 guy needs to kill 6,667 goblins…
but we don’t know how many are even logged into the game
this could just be all marketing ploy with ZERO in-game tracking…
just wake up one day, log in… oh yeah that zero transparency number we generated… it was reached, you did it…
how …f u n…
zero dopamine from this event. zero excitement to see the counter go up when i log in for a hour…
So you won’t be logging in to kill goblins or? This just some kind of rant post? I mean I get it, it’s not that big of a deal to me personally, but I get it.
Last year this time with this event happening, I played ALOT (I mean a solid 10 to 14 hours a day during this event) and i KNOW i did not even kill 1,000 goblins myself it might have been around 200-400
my rant is this…
lets see how many people are still login to this game when the event is going… (lets see data numbers from bliz)
is it going to be enough for the 40 million kill counter ???
we have no clue… the event is so vague… there is no trust, weather we are even going to need to engage with this event and not just login at the end to snake the rewards…
Its almost tempting for me to login and play but i just dont have the time with work project push for year end, Christmas time and I need to grind out the hellrider motocycle mount in WoW…
Plus finding the gobilns was rare and they would just run away too fast, my mount was so slow, i couldnt even caught half the goblins i saw.
I have a hard time even believing the game can spawn that many goblins even if everyone was playing. We all seen these events. You aren’t killing 1000s of goblins. It’s just a marketing ploy. There is no real counter. They will just unlock the rewards on some timer. Log into the cash shop and collect em.
I’m not too worried about it. If the event fails to reach its goals maybe they’ll learn from it for the next event. Who knows.
The whole event wreaks of amateurism though. First of all look when it starts, right in the middle of the holidays, usually when people are getting ready to visit family. Playtime will be limited, especially for those with 8 wives and 20 kids. So problem #1 is they picked arguably the busiest time of year to plan said event.
Problem #2 is having the event at the later half of a season to try and entice players to come back and play. Personally speaking I’m done with the season, have been for a while now. Now I may login to kill about 50 goblins, if that, then I’ll go right back to other games.
Problem #3 is the amount of goblins required. Let’s assume maybe 500k login for this event. That’s 80 goblins per person, not that bad. However as you’ve pointed out, we have no idea how many people will be logging in to even make this possible. The number of goblins required per person increases as the number of players logging in diminishes. We also don’t know if multiple people are chasing the same goblin and kill it, does it count as 1 goblin killed, or multiple goblin kills depending on the amount of people present.
Regardless what happens, I’m not losing sleep over it. Can only hope they make something more enjoyable for the next event.
yeah so if you take 40m divided by the total minutes in 1 day (1,440) by 17 days of the event, diablo 4 would need to register 1,633.987 goblin kills per hour to reach that total.
Sounds actually doable if people are slamming and jamming hard.
