Yeah, the global feature for this goblin event is a little too passive. It sounds like something you wouldnt notice if not explicitely stated somewhere. They should at least add a counter on the screen.
I not looking for what’s inside the bag, i just looking for the mats drop when the goblin dies. It drops ton of veil crystal, rawhide and iron chunk. It also has other boss mats if you still bother to do Rota.
I think a lot of it will depend on the spawn rate. I imagine an all goblin spawn for one wave on hordes, or a one floor in the pit is all goblins, or one floor of undercity having all goblins or the monster that spits enemies out in helltide is all goblins! I think that’s fun/cool.
Realistically though, like someone else said the boss mats and crystals/chunks is going to be good even if the spawn rate was like last seasons in the helltide.
So true. Every time I get a 3GA, my first thought isn’t “Oh wow, what luck” but rather “Which combination of the absolute worst possible affixes is it going to disappoint me with this time?”. I mean, who even thinks of centering a game around disappointment?
Game’s literally begging for me to stop playing it.
They are not arpgs though and they are events so not always running, but no mans sky , guild wars 2 , Destiny 2 uses it i think in seasonal events, just a few i have seen the mechanic used, Where the community is rewarded as a collective , its interesting becasue you log in and as the community meter rises you sort of cheer it on, because you want the rewards right.
And individually you play the event, hunt goblins and loot bags or whatever the case it.
Spoiler Alert. I guess lol.
So you might contribute a bit, and its kind of fun, will they get it right, well that is another thing isn’t it lol, i wish the luck though.
There is also no pressure to complete xyz in a time window, since there is usually enough people playing collectively , no need to sweat and you still get rewards from logging in as the community unlocks them is how it usually goes.
Why isn’t there a leaderboard, awards for individual goals too? Who’s going to play longer if their commitments interfere with practically nothing? I thought it was another pretty stupid event.
This would be a brilliant little leaderboard… but only if leaderboards were already a thing, probably. I imagine if it were the only/first official leaderboard with mass participation, it would just be embarrassing. But as a curiosity among 8-12 other leaderboards…? Fun. Could even have a christmassy frame around it.
But that takes planning & focus, and for things to get released “when it’s ready”. And Fergusson hhhhhates that philosophy. He said it himself! To a reporter! Can you imagine?
I loved the goblin event last time. It was fun chasing them down. It gave me all the boss materials I could have ever wanted as well. I will definitely be back to play this. It’s late in the season, I have plenty of mythics, but I will still be hunting goblins! Maybe I will try it with my spin to win rogue that freezes everything.
Here’s a thought that will never be implemented! What if each goblin you killed during the event gave you -one- platinum? If you killed enough, you could pick your own reward from the store. 500 - 800 goblins for a back piece, 2500 for a fancy cat. I know they’re obsessed with making $ and would never do it, but I bet that would get people interested real quick. I am honestly not sure how long it would take to kill 2500 goblins, and it’s a moot idea anyway.
I’m going to play this violin indefinitely, idc: bought x2 ultimate editions on game release, and they didn’t even come with enough platinum to buy the smollest little sleepy wolf cub (200 shy of).
Never redeemed those Battle Passes, though I think maybe they include enough now to buy something. 1.5 years later the last thing I’d want to do is grind for the privilege at a shop item. I still have both original BP’s inactive - might wait for when D4 fully ditches its “mobile business” vibe, maybe half a decade from now.
But I’ll cheer you carrot-chasing cosmetic Andys… I hope you get your carrot.
