GM's can not fix my in game "Whisper", told me to come here for support

So here is a rehash of my Support ticket. Is there ANYONE here who has run into this and has successfully fixed it? This is beyond frustrating at this point.

Evrabbahgu.

I have followed your advice to no avail. Just as I did Roodhephet, which I had to download Overwatch2 which I haven't played in years to just check settings. I still can not whisper anyone who is not a friend.
  1. To enable chat, right click on the chat window, select Settings, and click the Enable Chat button at the bottom.
    – There is no way on a PC to right click on the “Chat Window” in the lower right corner of the screen to bring up these settings described. I tried right clicking everywhere.

  2. Chat, and other social features, can also be disabled through the Battle.net Account Settings page. Check your Privacy & Communication settings to make sure chat is enabled for the level of contact youd like.
    – When I open the Battle Net app and click on “Privacy Settings” a web page pops up. Under the “Privacy & Communication” tab of this web page “Text Chat” is “Enabled” and “Private Text Chat” is set to “Everyone”.

  3. Parental Controls Restrictions
    – My parental controls were removed on 11-12-2024 by Game Master Lodstton.

  4. Chat Privileges Temporarily Suspended
    – I rarely talk in chat. I can still talk in “Trade” - “Party” and “Local”. I can only “Whisper” friended people which is my big issue.

  5. If none of the above are causing your issue, reach out for assistance in the Diablo 4 forums.
    – I have scanned the forums for the same issue and there has been no solutions found as far as I can find. People report having to buy the game again with a different user account to get it to work. This should not be the solution.

  6. Chat access will be blocked until profanity filter is initialized.
    – My in game “Mature Language Filter” is “Checked”.

  7. Some posts of Reddit suggest this message may also pop-up when using proxy / VPN
    – I do not use any proxy /VPN. In fact I use the same computer my friend uses. I have compared all my settings to his and they are exactly the same. Yet, he is able to whisper to “Non-Friended” people and I am not. So, it can not be the computer blocking any out going messages. I have also Scan Reddit for the solution, no one has stated a solution that works for me.

I am wondering if when parental controls was removed a setting was left on by default that is not allowing me to change the right setting to allow me to whisper to “Non Friends” in game. I have done everything on my end to ensure the computer I am on and the settings required are correct.

If my account is so bugged and can not be fixed or by blizzard, I would respectfully request a refund as I do not care to play a broken game at this point. It is completely FRUSTRATING not being able to “whisper” to people who are not friended, as there is no way to communicate to them affectively.

I whisper to people who aren’t my friends all the time. I right click on their name and select the Whisper option.

I just scanned the forums. Any post (and there are many) made about this issue has never been resolved and has gone 30 days and gets locked. pretty much swept under the rug. This is so disrespectful of a gaming company. I would be ashamed with the public support for this.

“Iggi”

I can not do this. My friend who uses the same computer with a different account on it can do exactly as you describe with no issues. We have compared Battle net settings and In Game settings and they are exactly the same. I do not know how it could be on my end at this point. Tech support just runs you in circles and suggest you look on Reddit to fix it, very sad.

The forums aren’t official contact points with Bliz. They are by design player to player assistance. So not seeing/receiving Bliz support there is typically how it would work.

If you’re talking about the TS forum specifically, all threads autolock after 30 days of inactivity. That’s to help prevent combining possibly unrelated issues via necroing.

Thank you, I am fairly new to this and did not know this about the forums.

Have you ever tried putting this setting to something else, saving it, and then changing it back?

Also this concerns me more so.

Depending on your choices, your child’s communication can be muted completely so that they cannot see other player’s text chat or hear their voice chat, or they can be modified so that they can only communicate directly with other users who are on your child’s Battle.net friends list.

I’m not entirely sure your parental controls were set to allow the sentence I just highlighted. If you had a guardian or parent setup your controls initially, you may need to check it again. I don’t know your personal circumstances obviously.

However just because your parental controls may have been removed, doesn’t mean the settings for the controls were removed. I know it may sound dumb, but I wouldn’t put it past Blizzard coding to be able to remove something, but still keep the settings it once had.

The two things I’ve listed would be the only thing I can think of preventing you from chatting with people outside of your friends list. No other setting would prevent this.

Continuing the discussion from GM's can not fix my in game "Whisper", told me to come here for support:

I have tried settings things differently and back again. Did not help. I am going to see if they will put parental controls back in so I can look at the settings.

Is your battelenet status set as busy or offline? I found myself cannot see others’ msg when I was in those 2 statuses.

I have only seen people have this issue with the steam version of the game.

Now I have no idea about any of that since I do not own the steam version, but a lot of games, some even with their own launcher through steam, have steam hooked through the game.

Perhaps since this is a steam only issue, people can start checking… oh I dunno… steam settings?

Is your profile private? are you set to invisible? does your steam settings have messaging disabled outside your friends list? do you have your games hidden? etc etc etc.

just some random ideas to test since nobody seems to be talking about the fact thats its only affecting STEAM players. So wouldnt it make sense to see if STEAM has something to do with the STEAM players issues?

like seriously, the only posts ive seen in the bug report section is from steam players.

My steam settings are the same as my friends on the same computer as are all my battle net settings.
