Gifting a free copy of Diablo 4 to someone that can help me fix this game breaking bug

Gotta zone that was on my main character for the past few days that I could not click on. Today the zone has moved to the left half of my screen (can’t click anywhere, if my pointer is over there, my keyboard will not respond). Dead zone is huge and fills up most of my left screen at 2450X1440p. Any ideas how to get rid of it? Logging in and out doesn’t do anything. it seems to come and go as well as it pleases. The error is not present when I’m logging into diablo 4 (so I CAN click on my character) but once in game, the box takes over my screen. It’s invisible but it’s very obvious. I don’t know if I should take a video or not but it’s kind of a drag and it’s mucking up my experience for sure.

Can I get a game dev or someone to log into my account and fix this?

It’s not your account, but your computer. I am sure if I would to log in to your account, it will be fine on my computer.
My suggestions, for quick troubleshooting:

  • Disable other monitor, leave only one installed, unplug it physically and make sure Windows picks up the change, reconfiguring the desktop to only one
  • Disable all programs from autorun in Task Manager, reboot
  • new GPU drivers installed & reboot
  • all Windows updates installed & reboot for good measure
  • lastly, delete Documents/Diablo IV/LocalPrefs.txt file to reset your in game settings.

Have you tried disabling all overlays such as Nvidia, Reshade, Blizzard app, Discord? Looks like an overlay is interfering with your game.

The overlay (which is just Nvidia’s overlay) is what I was using to record the activity for the bug report

Disable other monitor, leave only one installed, unplug it physically and make sure Windows picks up the change, reconfiguring the desktop to only one
Disable all programs from autorun in Task Manager, reboot
new GPU drivers installed & reboot
all Windows updates installed & reboot for good measure
lastly, delete Documents/Diablo IV/LocalPrefs.txt file to reset your in game settings.

I’ve done all of these things today. The only thing I haven’t done was the delete documents prefs.txt but after just doing it now, nothing changed.

Change your monitor, problem solved. Can I get my free copy now? D:

Does setting the game to windowed mode still produce the same issue?

My monitor is set to the generic pnp monitor. I’ve only got one screen…

Yes, I just set to windowed mode, nothing changed.

Can you drag the corner of windowed mode to be smaller? Does it still happen on the game?

Here’s a video of me trying to resize the screen and play with settings

Note: I can use a controller to bypass this problem, but I REALLY want to play with my mouse and keyboard since I bought this for PC and all.

Hmmm, in game does pressing the “home” button remove it?

Sadly, no. I haven’t seen anything that actually manipulates or phases the invisible box. It’s just…there.

It’s almost like something is running in the background preventing me from playing Diablo but this doesn’t happen for any other game so I can’t find the rhyme or reason as to why this is occuring.

turn off DLSS? is it somehow confusing the resolution of your game?

That is bizarre! Is there anything in your task-manager that could be loaded or a service of some kind from a recently install/updated app?

I’ll show a video of my task manager, I’m running nothing sus. I’ll update this with a vid of my manager when it’s ready.

DLSS is off

I had it and my friend had another one with the windows task bar poping from time to time and javing notification too.

Our solution was to make a fresh windows install witth file kept.

D4 had trouble with resolution screen has you may see you only have windowed fullscreen and not only fullscreen they removed it during beta because they had trouble and add “lock mouse in windows game” for multiple screen user.

They are working to fix it.

I’m using a ultrawide screen. Other ration than 16:9 may lead to trouble from some of us.

Figured it out, Overwolf was the guilty culprit. Pioruns, give me your deets and I’ll hook you up

Glad it is solved! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:Always good to check every single background program before we blame the game  And it was right thing to do in this case too!
You can add me in game piorunz#21181 if you want to donate a Diablo IV copy I will gladly accept it.

Delete that email from your post. You really don’t want that out there.
