Getting shadow and poison damage onto mage builds for 4th Tal Rasha stack dilemma

Edit- Ok great points below. Putting elemental surge in place of double frozen orb is a no-go so we need some ideas on ways of getting shadow and poison into the build.

You need to apply shadow or poison element to trigger talrashas 4th element which can be applied by elemental surge for an additional 1.15 modifier. The uptime is 100% once its applied as long as you keep attacking. Better than an additive bonus.

Theres no other way outside of something like andariels visage for mages to do shadow or poison damage since we no longer have the vampire power infection right?

Does the Aspect of Accursed Touch or Aspect of Metamorphosis do shadow damage, maybe?

You realize that Maxroll and Icy are user-submitted builds, right? You can make your own and upload it.

the one that’s in the endgame tierlist?

i cant find any source of poison or shadow in there.

maybe the author is just okay with +45% instead of +60%? idk

Yup. Sites like those are good jumping off points, but as the OP states, getting some extra multipliers with modifications if you’ve got the gear can be better.

Seems a little odd to be asking them to change their build guides on the official D4 forums. None of those guys come to these forums. You’d have better luck making your own guide and submitting it to them, or in the case of maxroll, find the streamer who made that particular guide and get them to change it.

maxroll is good to start paragon board
i dislike doing my own board its uninteresting for me :frowning:

but later you are on your own

about your question, maby sorc can use doombringer 1h sword for shadow damage ?
lol

Prior to S4, I did exactly that.

But even the extra 15% and Doombringer affixes isn’t worth losing 2x Weapon Tempers and an Aspect. Just no real room anymore.

I am sure they are trying their best to update…it can be difficult self-categorizing their own builds to a tier list…when you have no idea if there’s an average-joe build out there that trounces their ‘s-tier’ build.
Builders should never rate their own builds per a tier list. Leave that up to the players, as feedback. I guess this is akin to the peer-reviewed process.
‘My build is new max dps, s-tier!’…
settle down there, billy mays.

Well honestly the most strange thing in this build guides and tier lists that somehow maxroll put FO sorc in A-tier for clearing pit, but for anyone who actually played it it’s clearly that it C-tier at most or probably even lower, like some garbage tier.

nah i mean they can, so players should know what build they will make for any activity, but regarding FO sorc and maxroll lists it’s clearly missinformation that it is A-tier for pits. It’s just straight lies.

I used Maxroll or others for D3, then added what I enjoyed and studied the leaderboards to see what the top players were doing. This recipe served me well.

4 stacks = 1.6 vs 3 stacks of 1.45 = 1.6/1.45 = 1.103 or 10.3%

The return of 10.3% is usually let go for other things.

You dont have to follow it, just build your own guide.

Perhaps they do it to avoid leaving a paper trail…
I try to be clear now, when sharing my build, maybe they can learn a clear format…
Gnomer’s Build v4.1…for example, leaves no confusion.
Maxroll’s FO v4.0…since there’s many FO variations out there. The version prevents them from back-tracking, trying to go back and change their published specs…
I know, I’m fun at parties.

I don’t have a sorc, but as a Barb there are some weapon temperings that can apply elemental damage on lucky hit. Does sorc have something similar?

Yessss, I’ve been eyeing LH shadow, poison, physical, etc…anything other than native elements.

You need to play build dont use cast twice affix for elemental surge, therefore Blizzard ice spike still has its place in this season.

ok yeah maxroll and icyveins guides were actually pretty solid. shadow and poison surges would compete with double frozen orb and i guess its not possible to temper both surges and double orb procs.

will have to keep an eye out for something to trigger that 4th element.
