So first it was the vram, now it just random black screens while playing the game. What is going on with this game, it’s one thing after another.
Do you by chance have a gsync or free sync monitor?
Yes i have a G-sync monitor, this never happened before.
I had a similar issue with mine. Happened in some games and not others, and didn’t appear to be related to my frame rate.
However the solution in my case was to make a custom resolution that changed the minimum HZ that gsync can be active at by 2 or 3 Hz above the stock setting. (IE so instead of disabling gsync at 41HZ it will disable it at 43Hz (which correlates to your FPS of course).
After doing that I haven’t had it happen ever again. Worth a shot.
I’ve only ever seen black screens in very specific areas of Revendreth in WoW. I don’t know what’s going on under a game’s hood that makes it render nothing. Typically, the only thing that happens when you use g-sync with an incompatible monitor is slight flickering.
I can’t post a link here but google “change free sync range” and it will be a post by displayninja talking about a program called CRU that lets you make custom resolutions.
You can make custom resolutions right in the Nvidia driver settings. Just don’t blow up your monitor. ![]()
I run my computer at 1440p 90hz.
I think I had to use CRU instead for some reason but I can’t remember why as it has been over a year now. I don’t think the Nvidia one let’s you control the gsync range if I remember correctly.
I really want to buy one of the very few Asus models that support g-sync. Asus monitors have an amazing picture in racing mode.
I am using an Asus model that isn’t officially certified by Nvidia, which is maybe why it isn’t certified because of the issue I had, but regardless it was a simple fix and works flawlessly otherwise now.
VG249Q is the model.
My Asus monitor is 100% FreeSync Premium. I was too stupid to buy a model that was G-Sync compatible. I have a 1080p MSI G-Sync monitor and G-Sync is a wonder to behold, but it’s picture quality, while decent, isn’t nearly as good as my Asus monitor. It actually looks better just running my 1440p Asus monitor at 1080p than it does using the other monitor.
Well darn, come to find out the display port cable was bad, geeze. I put on another cable I had and the problem is gone.
Glad to hear it! Good to know for my own reference too in the future.
