Get rid of Class Pit Mats

I find having 3 different levels of crafting mats for masterworking to be a bit time consuming.

I feel like I’m wasting tons of time having to convert Neathiron to Ingolith then into Obducite to re-masterwork my items.

Could we not just get rid of Ingolith and Obducite and replace it with a single mat such as Neathiron and adjust the drop rates and masterworking cost of Neathiron accordingly??

Since 1 Neathiron = 9 obducite we can surmise the following example;

Rank 1 - 1 Neathiron
Rank 2 - 2 Neathiron
Rank 3 - 3 Neathiron
Rank 4 - 4 Neathiron

Rank 5 - 6 Neathiron
Rank 6 - 12 Neathiron
Rank 7 - 25 Neathiron
Rank 8 - 40 Neathiron

Rank 9 - 50 Neathiron
Rank 10 - 100 Neathiron
Rank 11 - 150 Neathiron
Rank 12 - 250 Neathiron

Cost are obviously not perfect but could be adjusted as needed. Just eliminate the need to “convert” stuff completely and save a ton of time.

The way I see it, if a player is wasting 15 seconds converting mats and just 1000 players are doing it that is over 4 hours of collective time wasted just converting mats.

Yup, I generally just farm 650 beneath iron for each piece I need to work on.

and just make the first 41 lvls only give 1 neathiron?

Good point, could just rescale everything and have a uniform mat though.

So you could just change all the requirements and make it simple with one mat.

Like i said the cost can be adjusted to reflect whatever Blizzard wants, Just get rid of the 3 different types and make it easier to farm a single mat and less time “converting” stuff.

Make each level drop 1x for example and adjust the difficulty as necessary and the cost of masterworking to reflect the level of effort required to masterwork to level 12.

The collective amount of time people waste on “converting” these mats is staggering when you do the math and for what? Converting just to convert?

Sure there is a gold sink involved but that is no excuse, just adjust the cost of masterworking to be reflective of such change.

i mean making it only 1 mat and adjusting the mat amounts and rewards wouldnt be out of the question, but if you started at lvl 1 giving 1 and increased it 1 per level…you are talking 100 at level 100. 100 neathiron every pit100 seems like a lot. 6 runs, or 12-15mins to masterwork a piece of gear to 12/12.

literally every aspect of masterworking would have to be recalibrated.

Right, it could be redone and rescaled to have a single mat.

So the amount you need for tempers 9-12, may be a increased by a significant factor.

I guess the other way of looking at it is making everything obdocite, convert out the ingolith and the beneathiron to obdocite, (rename obducite to beneathiron)

reducing it to just 1 mat type would be inline with their methodology though. coming s5 they reduced the varshan mats from 4 to 1

The solution is not impossible, just requires a little bit of development and could save thousands of collective play hours wasted just converting mats.

Neathiron starts at 41+

Make NMD 100 clear able to access tier 54 pit.

Therefore NMD 87 clear = pit 41 access.

well right now neathiron starts at 61. i was pointing out at current rates because 61 gives 20 neathiron the first 41 levels would have to only give 1 before you can start increasing by 1. anyway i agree reducing it to 1 mat type could be done, there is no reason not to other than the entire system would need a rework

What i proposed is not the idea solution, just wanted to bring up the topic and see if there would be interest in this approach.

I’m sure i’m not the only one that find myself running back and forth between blacksmith and alchemist converting mats just to re-masterwork items to get the desired masterworks. I feel like i’m wasting tons of time doing this.

No rework, rename obducite to neathiron, and just convert everything to “obducite” upwards, you’re done. Get rid of the old inocite and neathiron.

… but then you wouldn’t have color coding…

Then they could not stop you from farming lower levels to get the 8+ masterworking.
Right now they control how slowly they release the Neathiron.

And also the reason that crafting only works in one direction. So you can’t just run low level and get what you need to get stronger.

Rank 1 - 1 Neathiron
Rank 2 - 2 Neathiron
Rank 3 - 3 Neathiron
Rank 4 - 4 Neathiron

Rank 5 - 6 Neathiron
Rank 6 - 8 Neathiron
Rank 7 - 12 Neathiron
Rank 8 - 15 Neathiron

Rank 9 - 20 Neathiron
Rank 10 - 30 Neathiron
Rank 11 - 40 Neathiron
Rank 12 - 50 Neathiron

FTFY

The game is already fast. People are now complaining about taking 15 seconds to convert mats. This is too funny.

interesting solution. could definitely work the only problem being the amount needed to actually masterwork would need adjustments then. right now pit 61 gives equivalent of 180 obducite, so if we just call it neathiron the number needed to masterwork woukd need a drastic recalculation

You clearly did not understand the math behind my reasoning?

If you have 10,000 players spending 15 seconds converting mats, that is a collective waste of over 40 hours that could be spend doing something a little bit more productive in game.

So you need a couple thousand lol
