Genuine Question

How is there such a power difference between classes… like sorc doesn’t even remotely compare to something like rogue in both survivability and damage output to the point it’s embarrassing

People are paid at blizzard to balance classes are they not? Was there absolutely zero testing done? Because anyone plays a sorc for 5 minutes, then plays a rogue for 5 minutes can immediately see it’s not even remotely close.

I know buffs are being announced on Friday for sorc, but why does it even get to this point where devs are admitting they are massively behind other classes? How does it even ship this way…

Not only that, but the devs have also admitted that sorc is the most favourite class in the game by the community… how do you launch a game and have your player bases favourite class be borderline unplayable and expect to keep people around?

Playtesting costs money if you want it properly tested, and Activision Blizzard doesn’t like spending money.

Idk why ppl keep making this claim. Are barbs and rogues able to delete mobs 0.2 seconds faster?

Simple; the game wasn’t finished on launch… sadly: a pretty common thing these days with AAA big-budget games. They know that theyll sell a buttload of units on launch regardless; so they will “just patch it later” or never bother because they already have your money and they’ve got micro-transactions to incentivise.
Perfect example; the first time I beat the campaign, or TRIED to; I got soft-locked because a “jump point” just didn’t spawn in. Yes: even the central story campaign isn’t free of game-breaking bugs. Why would we expect the game to be at all balanced?

In Blizzard games, power balance is the very very last thing they’re concerned about. They also sometimes strategically over buff certain classes on a cycle so we’re compelled to start over to play the new OP class.

In the case of WoW, every class has been a literal god, but also a noodle salesman at some point throughout its history. The complete cycle of that OPness for each class was achieved as early as Wrath phase 1 (hunter, you poor thing, had to wait so long!!!)

The problem of one class being the top dog was present in D3 as well, and also happened cyclically.

And, of course, every single bit of it was driven by the massive QA and testing force known as the playerbase.

In terms of Blizzard products, don’t expect a polished shoe until at least one year or perhaps until this dev team gets Jay Wilson’d

Clearly you have not played both rogue and sorc to high level

That’s par for the course for Blizz. Ask anyone who’s played wow for an extended amount of time.

ooooo you said a bad word

Well you kind of answered your own question. It’s the favorite class so it gets nerfed so people play the other classes.

It’s silly because they clearly made that new Uber staff for a Sorc but no one will ever have one…

Yep just so much stupidity that it makes it hard to want to invest any time into this game as someone who wanted to main sorc…

They add another Uber unique staff that I’ll never get

They have the Shako which is amazing for all classes, but hands down imo benefits the sorc the most considering they are made of paper, rely heavily on CDR with frost Nova, teleport, flame shield, and ice armor run in almost every build just to have a chance to survive. The shako could be giving 4 ranks to 4 of your defensive abilities as well as a 20% DR from the effect so that sorc doesn’t just die from a random stray arrow when other classes can face tank almost everything.

Intelligence as sorcs main stat gives bonus to resistances, which are broken and not working correctly still 2 months after launch with another 3 months we are expected to wait.

Every class has builds represented in S or A tier on maxroll in at least the “endgame” tier list, or the nightmare dungeon pushing tier list except sorc. The best sorc build is B tier while classes like Druid and rogue get like 4+ builds to choose from all better than sorcs best.

These devs honestly should be fired. If I performed half as incompetent as they have proven to be at my job I’d be let go immediately

Every blizzard game has huge disparities between builds and classes that shift yearly. They aren’t really thought out fully. I think they just go with it based on what people do with their characters as long as the franchise makes money.

There is some sorta game being played on everyone… I’m certain of it.

Could it be a case of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing?

I was astonished by the number of employees working in this product. Couldn’t many of the issues we see as players be the result of an overly complex splitting of responsibilities of tasks within the Dev structure?

So many things in this remind me of screw ups I experienced in my 32 years in the Army of too many hands in the pie. A bureaucracy run amok.

9,000+ ish folks, thats like nine battalions or three brigades. Huge!

Try playing a Necro and having your minions get 1-shot by every cold enchanted elite because apparently nobody knows how to properly balance the game
