so i tried 3 classes leveled them up to 15-20 each, and i have to say sorcerer is weak and terrible and it was not fulfilling the power fantasy because i was sitting there spamming minions to do the damage for me. my direct damage basic skills like firebolt/fireball are so low damage and i have to wait for the dots to tick . I tried this class last after necromancer and rogue and its by far the weakest of the 3.
Necromancer is literal faceroll, do nothing and win with 0 effort, I dont know, is that supposed to be the class role? win by afking?
Rogue seems fun but its massively overpowered compared to the sorc, i literally press 1 button repeatedly and win, every time, where as my sorcerer i had to use every skill and still felt it like complete crap.
Watching some videos about the balance changes reminded me of WOW where you’d have completely useless classes for years due to blizzard’s balancing mentality. I think other games do not have this problem, each class in other games performs well and there isn’t a drastic FOTM class. Playing this game just made me want to play a different ARPG because i know they wouldnt have classes like sorc being so weak at the start.
anyway thats my feedback, devs probably wont read it or care but just putting it out there as a new player.
Come back and let us know how you are doing on T4. Or in the pit at level 100 - 150.
There’s no meaningful commentary to be made about, or among, classes at level 20. You’re dishing out a lot of non-information… except perhaps on how the early leveling process feels.
There’s literally nothing in this statement that can be derived from a level “15-20” character. To form an impression worth sharing about class power, either absorb a few dozen of those videos you reference (as your only source for classes in endgame, apparently) and then speculate & invite opinions… or… level up past 60, go into Torment, grind a few hours in the endgame.
I have a general question: is D4 your first arpg?
I honestly stop reading after this.
You’re like giving a summary of a book after reading the first page.
Yeah your right.
Things should feel good at all stages of play.
No one should have to wait for things to feel better.
Playing what WE want is not advised in this game. The Balancing crap is still there. Never has left.
Least intelligent review I’ve read in quite some time. Leveled 3 clasees to 15-20 and you based the strength of each class on that? That is sooooooo sad.
you picked the wrong skill for 35 mana.
you should try firewall (30 mana) or frozen orb (40 mana) for greater AOE damage thats actually worth the mana spent, and supported by 2 hydras (20 mana) acting as gatling turrets to help spread out your monster hunt.
Honestly you can’t begin to evaluate a D4 toon until you’re level 60 & working on Paragon levels. Your Sorcerer will be just fine in the endgame, & I think you’ll find that the Rogue will not be as overpowered (unless you’re playing Death Trap) as it is at Level 20.
Some builds are naturally better at levelling to 60, that’s why you see specific levelling builds on websites like Maxroll or Mobalytics. Players often use a levelling build guide & then swap to an entirely different build when they get to 60 & start working on Paragon, Tempering, & Masterworking.
You don’t have to follow a guide to play D4, but utilizing them or at least looking at them for reference helps a lot. Smarter people than us (or at least people with more time on their hands) have already figured out almost everything about how to empower the best builds. If you choose to just go your own way you will have a lot of fun but you will probably struggle to ever get to Torment 4. The transition from Torment 3 to 4 is kind of harsh in Season 8 & by the sounds of things it might be worse in Season 9.
Sorry for the wall of text, I hope you have fun & thanks for your perspective on low-levels.
- How on earth a first time player is even aware of the power fantasy concept?
- A first time player would never run in the forums without even having an understanding of a game to complain.
Are you really a first time player? Because you most definitely don’t seem like it. What exactly is the point of this thread? lol A veteran player gives feedback on how the game feels to a new player?
While I agree that he should probably level up a class to at least max level and do some playing at that level, you don’t need to get to pit level 100+ to tell if you like a class. This goes double this season, and triple for next season.
A veteran gamer could be playing Diablo 4 for the first time. They’d almost certainly have experience on forums for that game. OP didn’t say this was his first game, just his first time playing D4.
im just giving feedback on the leveling experience as a new player. to further explain, i was giving feedback on hydra and flamewall sorc, minion necro, and dance of knives rogue.
My major complaint is that fire sorc is extremely underpowered and where i would struggle with basic mobs i clear them instantly with 1 button press as dance of knives rogue.
I eventually went for a different sorc build and it was like night and day, its just the fire path of sorcerer is beyond underwhelming.
I’m just trying to play my favorite class and do the main story.
The diablo white knights are all over this guy.
Fair review for a lvl 1-20 experience. It definitely changes late game though lol.
That & there is no Power Fantasy to fulfill pre level 60 lol, OP will figure that out quick.
*maybe I’m just jaded from playing as much as I do, but I could care less about the levelling process personally.
