General damage tempering appears to affect companions

If I temper a pile of companion damage, obviously the companions do more damage.

When I upgraded my gear to Ancient, I opted to go for just “increased damage” and “increased damage to crowd controlled”. I expected my companion active skill damage to plummet, but it’s still as good as it was with the companion specific tempers.

Anyone else observe this?

Dunno if this was a tooltip or something I read here, but Companions inherit most of your bonuses. A simple way to check this is comparing active damage with a 1H/2H. For slots where straight damage is an option, definitely take that. Save the Companion-specific ones for your support pieces. I don’t know if the inherited bonuses are 100%, but it’s close enough to not make a difference, as you saw.
