Is it just me or is gear really confusing now? I need to look at all the yellow I collect in case the rolls are better than the ones on my legendary and then consider the gems in current vs no gems and then then do math on any affix that I will loose by switching and then take the aspect off and add to the new one and level the piece up and bring to enchanter. I really just liked knowing something that dropped is obviously better then the one I have now. Even if it was only by a small%
Collecting yellows also makes legendary weapons feel weak since you just are collecting for the aspects? I might be doing it wrong, but it feels muddled.
Not only that but there are good yellows and bad yellows. Also shoutout to the guy who thought uniques should be just a dash less brown than legendaries. That’s really another level of user experience.
Its not confusing if you are able to correlate what your class does well with what affixes are on gear. Its just not confusing. Are there stronger things than other things, yep.
Yes the comparison window should show what the gear piece would look like if it was upgraded to the gear it’s being compared to.
Normally, after a game launch, these are the kinds of problems that should be the main focus. But this game has so many larger problems, things like this are being left under the radar.
Yes it’s confusing, there are too many attributes displayed in random order, also no loot filters - it’s a chore in general and one of the many reasons I’m no longer playing. I just dreaded coming back to the town with full inventory having to compare everything with what I have while the helltide/whatever timer was ticking.
Confusing is probably not right word. I would say it’s complete mess! This is why any kind of lootfilter would be godsend…
It will make huge difference.
But as it is now, i’m complete hoarder…I pick everything! Need both gold and veiled crystals. And doing NMs 50 speedruns gold is not really dropping in noticeable amounts…200k if lucky…
This. I shouldn’t have to math out if that piece i just dropped rolled higher affixes than the one i currently have
The problem is this:
A LOT of gear has “gotcha” stats. They are meant to trick you. You HAVE to tunnel-vision yourself to the stats you need and not consider sub-opbtimal “maybe-could-work” stats. Otherwise it gets ugly in a hurry.
“frost damage vs cold damage vs damage to frozen vs damage to chilled”
Comes to mind as an example.
Once you do that you can filter through yellows in a run pretty quickly.
ok, but is it more fun than the satisfying ding of a unique ring dropping from Andariel and you can’t wait to identify it and hope it’s a Stone of Jordan?
I feel whoever did itemization in this game just didn’t get ARPGs at all.
Your endgame items are the rares you find, with aspects that you extract from legendaries.
What’s really confusing, and wait till you get there, is the damage “buckets” and how some damage increases are useless compared to some of the others. And the game doesn’t explain absolutely any of it. Oh how I miss the D3 character sheet, its simplicity and dps/toughness/recovery figures…
Well yeah, you can tell if it’s a low roll or a high roll, but not being able to precisely compare 0/5 and 5/5 items is idiocracy. Like 20 other things in this game.
OOF THIS!
The 0/5 to 5/5 comparison… oh boy. And to new players, how to know if the piece will even go to 5 or stay at 4. Yeah… unnecessary.
It’s like they really tried to make rare items relevant again after having D3 out for so many years, but they just made it overly complicated at first glance. They could have stuck with the same item system.
After playing this for a couple of weeks, The ancient/primal and augment system looks like peak game design in comparison, lmao.
Exactly. Looking through my bag of new loot is a chore, not exciting.
Everyone agrees wirh you.
Bad itemization is a common complaint.
Not gonna lie, this system has me panic checking some purple every once in a while too hahahahaha
I just assumed you call legendaries “purples”, possibly because of a colorblindness filter or something. Now I looked at my purple socks and they look brown/orange to me. Thanks, I guess!
haha oh boy, so sorry. I meant purples as in purples, the “magic” items. lol
Spec into Vulnerable if you can. Pay attention to what your build does. Look for gear that does bonus damage for that. Virtually all of my pieces are bonus damage for chilled/crowd controlled/frozen and vulnerable damage. It kicks your dps up a lot. Going off of the raw attack value won’t always be an upgrade. It’s the one stat you should ignore unless it’s very low. If the difference isn’t much but the lower one has a lot more bonus damage affixes the lower raw damage weapon will be better by far.
I thought that was blues. Am I the colorblind one, then?!
