I have 5 different gamepads, Xbox Controller, Razer V2 Controller, Logitech F310, SteelSeries Duo, and Xbox Elite.
None of these controllers work with Diablo IV.
When I press the button, the game registers their connection by changing the onscreen buttons to the controller buttons.
It knows I have pressed a gamepad, but i can’t control anything in the game. Their character still will not move.
This only started happening with the release of the Server Slam. And is still present in the final release, now.
I’d like this fixed Blizzard.
At least include an in-option ability to pick which controller you would like to use for the game.
Maybe this would make the games code connect more efficiently to the gamepad.

Yes, the buttons are not working properly, I can’t switch them and the action button constantly accesses the chat. I hope they fix it.
I am using the 8bitdo controller.
Not working for me either on razer tartarus pro gamepad. the strange thing is that i played on beta and it worked there…
Controllers are bugging out for me too, trying to move around in the menu is imposssible. Pressing a while standing still opens chat. A is used for everything in the game, hope it get fixed soon.

I have the same problem, I touch the controller and it changes the UI to controller, but no one button does anything, the same thing happened to me in the closed beta and in the slam beta… I was hoping that the release version would have these things fixed.
are you guys all plugged in via usb? my elite 2 works just fine, just getting back in the game now is the problem for me after it crashed and now im stuck on the loading screen
Same here. It wasn’t working yesterday so after a while I rebooted my pc, then it started working properly. Today, it’s not working again…chat window keeps popping up…smh…
I’m having this same problem too. I have Razer, a regular Xbox controller also. If I’m in the ‘Control’ settings I see that it registers that a controller is connect but it’s not allowing me to move anything or anywhere. I am plugged in via USB but I also have my controllers hooked up via Bluetooth just to see if that would work, it doesn’t.
Same here with razer wolverine tournament edition. Action button opens chat and map doesn’t open sometimes even though it plays the audio sound that I pushed a button. Seems like a driver issue so hopefully they can patch it soon.
Okay everyone, just a little update to this matter I thought I’d share with whoever is having this problem.
From my particular situation, I figured out that another connected device was taking the place of the controller.
What I mean is that my Razer Tartarus keypad was recognized as a controller by my pc and, thus, was not allowing the game to recognize the inputs of my REAL controller.
What I had to do to bypass this is turn off my pc, unplug the tartarus keypad, restart the pc, and wait till it loaded so that my real controller took first recognition by the pc. Once that was established, I plugged my keypad back in and everything was great.
The only problem with this is that if you are to play by controller, this process will need to be repeated on every pc boot.
I think the Diablo devs should just create an option in the menu where it can allow you to actively select which controller you would like to use.
A very good option indeed.

I have a Razer Huntsman and this was the exact issue. Plugged in a different keyboard after starting up then launched the game with my controller on and it worked!!! You’re a savior!!!

I reinstalled Win11 to see that D4 is the Prblem XD
This is 100% the correct answer. I was having the same problem, and the problem was Diablo 4 was only recognizing a USB fight stick I had plugged in. Unplugged the fight stick, restarted my PC, and other controllers worked fine.
Blizz def needs to add the ability to choose which controller it’s using.
