Game World is so Beautiful

but i never get to really see it or play in it because i’m always in a helltide or some event that adds a filter over everything or in some dungeon or w/e, super sad

my favorite part of this game is probably the big open beautiful world but i never really get to be inside of it for anything meaningful

every time i ride through a portion of it for whatever reason im just like “wow so cool… wish i could spend some time in it without feeling like im wasting my time”

do other ppl not feel this way? why is there no content out in the world? helltides are cool but like if its raining blood the entire play session then it doesnt really feel special or unique when it rains blood

I think one of the reasons they have these “(insert color) helltides” as some people like to call them is incentivizing players to explore zones outside the regular helltides.

Although it’s unfortunate that those events appear in only several zones each season and there is nothing for Eternal players.

yeah, i totally agree the game world is beautiful, especially the entrance of every dungeon.

too bad the exploration and combat inside are so tasteless that players lose the mood to admire those magnificent entry moments.

instead, they urged the devs to teleport players straight into the dungeon and finish the bland mission asap.

At first, I also thought they did good with the graphics and to some point they are still pretty good.

After a few seasons the lack of creativity and direction from D4 leadership overshadowed any positives like this and contributed to the lack of a fun experience.

It may look like a Ferrari but if it performs like a Geo Metro and there is a fee for the radio to work suddenly looks don’t have the same appeal.

Played through the campaign again for the first time in two years and literally had forgotten that parts of the map or npcs had any character. Not Natutuha, that’s always sucked.
Unfortunately given the ongoing direction of the game, all I see is a further slide towards vanilla timer based stand in town meaninglessness.

Must admit it would be nice to have more reasons to be in the open.

Have no idea how they fix this actually.

Random events with unique high level enemies. Worthwhile amount of experience points. Having obucite drop from enemies albeit in lesser amounts. Transmogs to farm.

This is actually a bit important in D4, although in D2 you had moments of puzzles or traps. We had huge empty rooms. I remember houses on fire with chests inside. But since this game is procedural it seems lifeless.

The random maps make this task of repetition more fun. In D2 you never faced Buchers in the same place, the Skull King didn’t always seem like that in D1. Some unique enemies were remarkable because they were really rare. D4 needs to bring this back. I walk through the open world and I know there won’t be anything rewarding or challenging.

  • There’s a lack of truly special enemies. The world is beautiful and full. But at the same time it’s empty. The bandits have the same blue pants and yellow shirt everywhere. I remember the first video games, when the enemies were the same, but in cold places they looked like they were wearing cold clothes or ice on the same trees

Everytime i do Grigoire Runs i think about jumping through the windows and explore every single corner of the Kathedral.

Maybe i can do this in the “Kölner Dom”. I let me get locked into it and when everyones gone i put on my Indiana Jones Hat and have a great adventure. :cowboy_hat_face:

The new goblin variants and the increased spawn rate of golden treasure chests have contributed to making the overworld more interesting, although not by much. But I like those small additions a lot and hope they are considered more frequently in the future.

I think exclusive shrines for the overworld would be cool to have.

The world is as gorgeus as it is boring and mid, you can have the most looking open world ever but if its empty and lifeless…

Secondary missions in this game are bad bad bad, no true rewards by doing them, nothing appeals to investigate more than the first time you wanna get Lilith altars, strongholds are ok the first time you do them, but as everything in this game, no true rewards and its always the same ones,

If the DIV world is beautiful… whats the world of Witcher 3? :see_no_evil: Must be celestial… most of the players have to close their eyes because they cant handle this amount of beauty.

There’s so much about the over world that’s lacking. From basic quest mechanics to lack of incentive to explore it. Once you’ve maxed out renown there’s no reason to bother with quests… once you’ve got aspects there’s no need to crawl dungeons…

Imagine if quest rewards actually scaled with level and difficulty. That running quests in Torment 4 became a viable way to farm XP instead of endless trips thru the Pit.

Or how about every time you rerun a dungeon there’s a chance to improve the aspect from it? Sure, it might take 5 runs to level the aspect from 16 to 17 but it would beat farming Undercity 27 times for the chance you might get a leggo to drop with the aspect you’re looking for.

The game has so much potential to give players real options to “play your way” but instead tries to rigidly pigeon hole everyone into a few limited builds following narrow, bland paths to obtaining them.

I one hundred percent agree with your post. It’s a shame we can’t really enjoy all the work put into making an immersive open world as we’re too busy doing the end game play loop.

My favorite part of the open world is the city of Caldeum. Between the awesome artwork, map, and lore that region also has one of the best musical scores. In previous seasons, I always had a ready excuse to visit the city if I saw that there were active Whispers available.

This season, Blizzard removed all the open world Whispers and put them only in the Witchtide areas, so they removed my only excuse to visit Caldeum. Even in previous seasons, with no end game activity located there, I’ve never seen another player there whenever I go to that area. Now there’s zero reason to go there at all this season which is a shame.

As we’re in the last week of this season, I’m finally going to make the time to go to Caldeum just because I miss it. I’ll be doing all the available side quests in Caldeum to help facilitate my exploration of my favorite area in D4.

I see plenty of the beautiful game world at the beginning of a season, or levelling a new toon (alts). After that all I ever think is “good god I wish I had a flying mount.”

I always play “zoomed in” to see all the beauty DIV has to offer :see_no_evil:

This filter has been reduced anyway. Previously, this red was more saturated. The game would have looked much better if they had dropped it altogether.

They could add something like priority whispers. By that I mean whispers with higher rewards(more than just the whisper amount gained) so you see it on the map highlighted and go hellz ya little buddy! And port to that open world non helltide part of the map to do the whisper and gain a fulfilling reward.

right, i still remember the spiritborn expansion in season 6. i was in a good vibe to explore this new region until i got stuck and bugged by the tenets of akarat. it appears that the tenets have some sort of cooldown period, where if another player activated it shortly before you, you have to wait. there was even an occasion where 2 more players were ahead of me and queueing. :sob:

the experience was so BAD.

Logged out mode works even better.
