Game really needs a Loot Filter and Auto-Convert to Mats

Screen clutter is obnoxious and seeing useless loot is a waste of time. It’s also a bad feeling to play the game and see all the irrelevant gear still dropping after you’ve reached a certain level. Loot filter or fix itemization, so that everything that drops (white, blues, yellows) can be made into something or used for something good. This is even more apparent need after S7 PTR.

loot filter?! what do you think this is anyways?! 2015 or something!?!?!?!!?

(i am being sarcastic and joking btw. i totally agree with you. it is amazing how they have totally and completely ignored every cool innovation and idea that has come out with other games in the past 10 years or so)

I dont ever see them adding a customizable loot filter that salvages stuff.

why you ask? because they screwed theirselves with the addition of the “auto-salvage” system. hear me out

a year ago, or whenever that was, I argued on these very forums that the “auto-salvage” feature wasnt actually automatically salvaging loot. Its just replacing the normals, magics, and rare items that would normally drop from X with materials. The biggest hint to that is that the devs specifically said the “auto-salvage” would give you fewer mats to compensate for it happening automatically. Theres no way they would implement a convoluted system that decreases the amount of mats you get by a certain percent when you salvage something, as often as the junk drops. They arent that smart.

So they cant implement an auto-salvage that is customizable. The “system” is in the game, but its a server level thing. Its the same for all players. Its not actually doing anything mechanically, it just replaces loot on the drop-tables for higher difficulties with materials.

This is why after they implemented it, crap loot still dropped from certain things, because they missed sections of the drop tables, not because the “auto-salvage” was broken.

There is no “auto-salvage” in D4. Its just drop-table tweaks depending on the difficulty.

In order to give players the customization, they would have to make the actual system and implement it. Which they wont. They already did the bare-minimum workaround for it initially and technically lied to the players about it. You really expect them to actually make the system now???

Poe has a basic one, truth is modders made the ones that people use. Blizz won’t let people mod in D4.

modders dont make them. people customize them, thats not modding. its a system that is implemented into the game by the devs. they implemented the customization of it as well.

there is no modding when it comes to the PoE loot filter.

You are playing the wrong game.

Even Last Epoch with it’s advanced loot filter is 90% junk loot just without the screen clutter.

Probably not 100% what you mean, but you can set a key to toggle off/on the text of the ground loot/mats so if you ignore most ground loot and happy to look at the ground icon you can do that, and toggle it to check easily. That said the pet picking up all of the mats would be nice, but in some ways its very D1, so i like that, but the game doesn’t support it so.
If you don’t know D1 was purposely meant to make you search for loot in the dark and had a search scroll/spell which would temporally show blue icons on the overlay map so you can check. You can look at it different i suppose, the modern take streamline it until you click one button while on the toilet, but yeah searching was very dnd and typical of games workshop games etc, around that time.

anyway loot needs to be in a better place tbh, before a filter is worth it. :man_shrugging:
games alright, combat is great, overly streamlined what makes diablo, unique. as alot of modern arpgs have. Mass appeal is sadly more important. Poe2 I have the same concerns, even though it looks good. :man_shrugging:

It has auto-convert to mats but only for items less than Legendary grade. You still need to pick up all the trash legs. There should be a filter to convert all items below Ancestral tier. In this scenario, unique items would be 1 tier above Ancestral, even if they don’t roll it.

better solution would make loot not so bad, it becomes mats and loot becomes a autobattler simulator. but hey lets make D4 D4I, :expressionless:

I think that ancestral items are the end of the end game. So eliminate frost resistance, we have manuals for that. Eliminate all damage. Nobody uses it. Fewer items and more qualities. It drops very legendary in tier 4. Nobody wants that.

Auto salvage non-ancestral would be super.
