I leave my pc connected to a vpn constantly and I haven’t have any problems with D4 up to this point with it. I did early access, open beta, server slam, and played from June 1st - 20th while connected to my VPN. Today though I either can’t log in successfully or I click start game with a character and it just sits at a black screen forever with the menu bg music playing.
When I disable the vpn, everything works fine. Whatever changed between yesterday and today broke something.
It may be that Blizzard has intentionally blocked it from working with VPNs. Was is ever stated that VPN gameplay is supported?
I am having the same issue. This is extremely frustrating because I am having internet issues lately, and using my VPN is the only way I can keep my internet up consistently right now. They must have changed something.
Well never said it wasn’t supported and considering it worked for all play from april to 3 weeks into launch, there’s no reason to believe its not supported.
For me, I usually have a more stable connection as far as lag and ping go when connected through a vpn than without.
My point is that it is not necessarily a game bug just because they used to work, and now they don’t.
If VPNs had never worked from the start of the first beta, you would not be posting here. You would just assume that VPNs are not supported, since they never said they were. If they later started working intermittently, you would still not assume it was a bug.
The only difference is that they initially worked, but now they don’t. That does not necessarily mean that they support VPNs and that this is a bug.
If they never stated that VPNs were supported, then it can’t be considered a deficiency in the game if they do not work.
By all means, let them know that it used to work, and that now it doesn’t. But they might just never address it, since it might not actually be supported, and you just got lucky at the beginning.
