Is anyone else experiencing severe lags after the recent update? It takes 10-15 seconds just to interact with any npc (blacksmith, occultist etc), and to open character tab. The same goes with the loading screens - takes twice or thrice as long now. Wondering if it’s just me?
I’m not having that kind of issue, at least, I wasn’t yesterday.
I had some “stuttering” at first when I updated my Nvidia drivers after getting a D3D/Fenris crash error (which asked me to update my drivers despite being relatively recent, which I did, and it didn’t fix it), as if it had to reload/create a temp file of every animation/explosion. But beyond that, no performance issue per se beyond the first hour or so into the season.
It could be ISP related.
I played yesterday and it was fine. One of my helmets simply didn’t appear in the economy. I opened the inventory, it took 5 minutes to show my items. I’m going to do some repairs on the game today. But it was very slow.
Thanks for replying. Internet’s working fine. No issue with other games etc. It was also working okay when I logged in earlier today. It’s only become worse now that it’s unbearable to even play the game anymore.
I see. Your ISP could be fine in general, but a problem could arise between you (or your ISP) and Blizzard’s servers, a problem for which it’s possible that neither one of those two are at fault.
We used to be able to run a traceroute using Blizzard/Battle.net servers IP to see where the issue was beyond the few first hops. An issue that appeared at the very beginning of the traceroute suggested there was an issue in the route used directly between us and our ISP (I guess sometimes, it could even help up point to a Router issue), while something later in the traceroute essentially meant that somewhere between our ISP and the destination server, something was wrong. I think that we could also see if it failed directly at the destination too, even if I never saw that.
With that information on hand, we could contact our ISP and ask them if it was possible for them to rearrange the route from their own “node”, or contact the node/hop that was at “fault”.
Sadly, as I wrote, it’s not longer possible to do so as Blizzard now hides the servers IP adsress, maybe to limit/prevent some DDoS attacks, I don’t know. It’s obvious that for you to lag that much, there’s something at play, and it could be something that neither you, nor Blizzard, has control over.
If you already tried everything (e.g. resetting your router and modem, resetting your PC), then I don’t think you can do much more for now, but to wait for the issue to resolve with time, as you’re probably not the only one in your region for whom that happens. You could contact your ISP, but I doubt they would be able to do much without a traceroute.
Had sone weird lagging last night, but it seemed to be a settings issue. OP, is color weirdly saturated? Had this and played around with visual setting until color went back normal and lag stopped. Then set visuals back to preferred values and everything ran fine.
Your lag was related to the Accessibility/Color blind mode option issue? That’s odd, or could be a coincidence.
I think it was. Lag issue immediately cleared after I changed settings and colors returned to normal. Felt like the game was struggling to render things locally. Was really strange.
Yes absolutely. I never had ANY connection issues - today i already died like 5 times due to extreme lag. I monitor all my hardware and connections and its the blizzard servers which lag. Nothing else. Other games run just fine online.
I’m curious. I’ll log in and see if there’s an issue right now. Yesterday was usually fine (I now recall that we had, my brother and I, a 5 seconds lag yesterday despite living 50+ km apart), but maybe it lags like hell today.
By the way, I play with Crossplay on as my brother is playing on Xbox. Is Crossplay activated in your case? I Crossplay is deactivated, maybe the “PC only” servers/shards are lagging right now, I don’t know.
Same here. Lags when interacting, walking, etc. Severe lag too during blood maiden fight! lol
Having the same problem with lag. I’ve played every season and never had an issue while playing the game, after recent update now the lag at times is causing disconnects. Not having any lag issues in any of the other games im playing, hoping it clears up eventually.
I’m also experiencing lag after the recent update. My internet connection is fine since I can play other online games like Marvel Rivals and Overwatch 2 without any issues. I already tried lowering my graphics settings from medium to low, but it didn’t help at all.
I remember facing a similar problem back in Season 2, and back then, reinstalling the game fixed it for me. I might try that again to see if it works this time. Has anyone else tried reinstalling to fix the lag?
Another thing I noticed is that when I close the game, it takes much longer to exit than usual. Even after the Diablo 4 window closes and the icon disappears from the taskbar, the Battle.net app still shows that I’m playing.
I checked the Task Manager, and the D4 process was still running, using around 5GB of memory. I waited for 2-3 minutes, but it didn’t close on its own, so I had to manually end the task.
What happens if i reinstall the game? Will i lose my characters etc that’s already loaded in this current game? Asking cos I’ve never done that before and I really don’t want to lose all the progress made.
the game is unplayable, my ms is changein from 50 to 3400+ and screen get stuck or black and i get disconnected
unplayable since new patch…
No, you won’t lose your characters or progress. All your character data, items, and progress are stored on Blizzard’s servers
Edit: Still lagging after try reinstall and updated GPU driver
Plot twist: The games not lagging so it…
Must be the whisky

I am having the exact same issues. I click an NPC and it takes like 5 or 6 seconds for the menu to even open. Never once had an issue before the Butcher season went live, but it is an issue every single time I play now. I updated my drivers and ran a scan and repair and everything.
Does anyone have an info on this or has Blizzard said anything about it? I have no idea what to do, and it makes playing the game extremely frustrating.
