Game Flickers or Crashes When Left-Clicking – Only in Diablo 4

I’m experiencing a persistent issue in Diablo 4 where the screen flickers or the game crashes whenever I repeatedly left-click. This problem only occurs in Diablo 4 — other games work normally.

Here’s what I’ve already tried:

  • Updated and reinstalled NVIDIA drivers (GPU: RTX 3060 Ti);
  • Tested a different mouse and changed polling rate (from 4000Hz to 1000Hz);
  • Adjusted resolution and display mode (monitor is 1080p 144Hz);
  • Disabled all overlays and background applications;
  • Verified game files and reinstalled the game;
  • Ran sfc /scannow and DISM to fix any Windows file issues (Windows 10 Pro, version 10.0.26100.4484).

The issue persists after all these steps. I suspect it might be related to the high polling rate of my mouse (Redragon M916).

Please investigate this issue. I’m happy to provide logs or screen recordings if needed.

AI’s fix:

Lower your polling rate to 500Hz or 250Hz

    1000Hz wasn't enough for me — only 500Hz fixed the crashes/flickering.

Add launch options in Battle.net:
Go to Game Settings → Additional command line arguments, and add:

-force-d3d11

(Optional: try -force-enable-vulkan instead)

Disable NVIDIA Reflex in the in-game settings

Use Windows default mouse driver:

Go to Device Manager → Mice

Uninstall any Redragon-specific driver (if installed)

Let Windows use the generic HID-compliant driver

Disable Fullscreen Optimizations:

Right-click Diablo IV.exe → Properties → Compatibility tab

Check: “Disable fullscreen optimizations”

Check: “Run this program as administrator”

Try with a basic wired office mouse at 125Hz — useful for isolating the cause
