Game crashes almost every time I TP in the open world

Been crashing whenever I TP in the open world & sometimes when using waypoints.

I can enter a NM dungeon fine and port out of it without crashing, its just open world I crash.

this issue began 2 patches ago. Up until then I had no issues

I am having the same issue. Every time i try to teleport, or use the TP my game crashes. Now It won’t even let me back into the game because it says my character hasn’t finished saving. Please try back later. Makes the game unplayable when you spend as much time logging back in as you do playing.

since sunday 22-9 i am having the same problems, whenever i TP to the game crashes. I was online for saterday and had no problems…i reinstalled the game…evn reinstalled windows and all drivers, but the still crashes on TP.

Been having the same problems as well. Stuck in one particular part where I want to teleport back to town but it always crashes.
I decided to try lowering my graphics from medium to low, and now it worked. It’s not ideal, but I’ll try it like this for now and see how it goes.

Looks like back to crashing today, this time trying to use the waypoint transporter. So frustrating!

I noticed sometime when porting the wrong portal animation is used, this could be part of the reason

Try resetting your portal to the original default one from the wardrobe (plain blue one). Then exit the game completely. Then launch again and see if you still have issues.

Just gave that a try, crashed on the 2nd port.

the only way I can get around at the moment is opening a low level NM dungeon, jumping in, then porting to where I want to go.

I’ve tried a clean install too

Don’t know why after the recent update, game keep on crashing?

I know this may be a dumb question, but are you by chance running the game from a mechanical HDD?

Just eliminating that as a potential cause. Its a known culprit.

Time the teleport if you can. It should be taking 4-6 seconds, tops. If its taking near or more than 10, that’s another indicator of an issue.

You can also pull the Fenris logs and look at the most recent ones after a crash. It should have details to what might have caused it. This file is located in the Diablo IV folder usually labeled Fenris Debug. Find the most recent one by date.

You can use https://pastebin.com/ to upload a copy of a Fenris file:

  • Highlight the text in the file and copy, then go to that site, paste it into the box labeled “New Paste”.
  • Change the exposure to “Unlisted”.
  • Near the bottom give it a name under “Paste Name/Title”, then click “Create Paste”.
  • Highlight the link of the resulting page, then paste that into your reply. Make sure to use the Preformatted Text button above </> to render the link un-clickable so you can post it. (post the link, highlight the link, click the </> button in the toolbar above the box here ^ and you are good to go - it should put ` around the link)
  • You do not need an account on Pastebin to use the site.

This way we can review the log to see if we can find a reason for the problem. Here is mine for an example:

Unless you are talking about when teleporting specifically, then your problem may not be the same problem. Please open a new thread for yourself when you want help figuring out an issue.

Thanks,

I’ve been seeing the same thing. Not sure why using TP is crashing the game.

I have it installed on a SSD.

The game crashes at various times during the teleport animation, sometime immediately, sometime towards the 3/4 mark of the cast animation bar. Sometimes the cast animation lags, I don’t think it goes beyond 6 seconds.

9 out of 10 times trying to teleport crashes the game.

9 times out of 10, porting to a NM dungeon, Pit or Hoard run works fine. Porting out of those areas is 9 out of 10 ok. Porting anywhere in the open world to a waypoint is hopeless. Waypoint to waypoint 50/50 works.

Edit update -

I uninstalled the game, restarted, downloaded the game, the pre expansion patch & updating my graphics driver, a teleport results in a blue screen crash now.
