Game crash killed hardcore character

I think the Scroll of Escape should work, not only when in a dungeon, but anywhere you get a disconnect or a crash.

I am unsure if it is working as intended at the moment, as I saw someone say they lost their character due to a disconnect, however, I don’t know if they were in a dungeon or not at the time.

Scroll of Escape not working

I was level 47 Hardcore and while in a boss fight on Act 4, I started rubber banding very badly, and then was disconnected. I had a scroll of Escape, but when I log back in I was dead. I am under the impression that the scroll of Escape is to save you in case of a disconnect. Also I was at full life had teleported far from the boss when I was disconnected. Thanks for your time.
