Game Constantly crashing

Hi,

My game is constantly crashing after the last patch the other week. Sometimes it crashes when I get to the menu and sometimes it crashes after a couple minutes. I found the crash error in the fenrisdebug.txt log. Here is the error:

Any help is appreciated – this is super frustrating and I cannot play :frowning:

you can try to check the information in this post.
https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/27703

not sure what hardware you’re using (motherboard & gpu and such)
make sure your bios and motherboard drivers are updated
make sure windows is updated

update your GPU drivers (roll back a version if you’ve tried this)
Download the driver you plan to install and know the location
Worth noting using DDU in safe mode to uninstall your current drivers
before restarting into windows to install the new GPU driver, disconnect your internet connection to the pc to ensure windows does not try to download / install a video driver.

after that you can try this:
open your Documents folder
open Diablo IV folder
rename LocalPrefs.txt to something else > LocalPrefs-old.txt
this will force the game to create a new file for your graphics/sound and such

ensure your battle.net launcher is set to close on game launch or turn off hardware acceleration.
Top blue icon > Settings
On Game Launch > Exit Battle.net completely
Scroll down > Uncheck Use hardware acceleration

Turn all your video settings down and turn things on / up slowly

It might be a decent idea to check your voltage / temps and such with HWiNFO
this is easier and best done with a second monitor

if you list your pc specs here some others might be able to assist as well:

  • Motherboard - brand & model
  • Processor
  • Memory
  • GPU - brand & model
  • SSD / Hard Drive / m.2 - what brand and model

Thank you so much, let me give this a try. Here are my specs in the meantime:

Motherboard: ROG STRIX Z590-E Gaming Wifi
CPU: i9-10850K
Memory: Vengeance Pro 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4-3200 CL16
GPE: Gigabyte GAMING OC RTX 3070
Storage: Samsung Evo Plus 2TB M.2

Try reseating graphics card into 2nd pcie slot, worked for me to fix crashes. Game would black screen beyond BSOD, and reboot itself. Found this on the nvidia forums from a post from 2 years ago, stopped the game crashing for me but not the periodic freezes

Can you post the dxdiag report here?

  1. Press Windows Key + R.
  2. Type DxDiag and press Enter.
  3. In the DxDiag window, click Save All Information.
  4. Name the file “dxdiag” and click Save.
1. Open the file. You’ll need to copy and paste the contents of the Text document into the post,
and put four Tilde ( ~ ) marks above the DXDiag. It’ll look like this:
