Hi,
I keep seeing builds which don’t use a fury generater like lunging strike.
How do they keep there fury up all the time ?
The unkillable Hota Build is one example of this.
Massive fury generation and damage reduction. We gain fury when hit and fury gen gives us more fury when hit.
Not using Unbridled Rage is the first step. Not having to spend 100 Fury on one button press goes a long way.
It’s no issue once the build is complete or if you have enough resource gen.
Yeah I know. For most people it’s easier to put together uniques and legendary aspect than it is to find proper affixes. Fury Cost Reduction on amulet and boots goes a long way.
You only gain Fury when hit with Challenging Shout and its upgrades active.
It depends on the build but having an effective HoTA build without a Basic Attack is challenging. There are plenty of builds that use Rend or DS that do not need a Basic Attack since you can pretty much turn them into generators.
No, you gain fury naturally when hit. If you hover over the fury orb (on PC) you can see this. I didn’t know that either because I play on console. Rob made a video about it recently.
I am shocked I never knew this. How much Fury is generated per hit? Is it when you take DIRECT DAMAGE or everytime you take damage? For example, I am assuming Poison does not give you 1 Fury every time it ticks or we would have infinite Fury. There isn’t anywhere that calls this mechanic out.
Tactical Challenging Shout gives you 3 Fury each time you take damage.
Fury on kill helps
Swords specialization is nice
Couple glyhs give back fury
Some skills mentioned above
Rings if needed
It’s direct damage per hit. So something like Ball Lightning attacking you will fill up the globe really fast. Grigorie floor lightning comes to mind.
From the video it is 2 Fury per hit and he has almost 100% Fury Generation on his character sheet. This means base is probably 1 Fury per hit. Without all of the Shouts, it won’t go up that much from taking damage. He has a pretty standard pack around him taking damage and his Fury pool is barely climbing enough to use a single Core ability after a few seconds of sitting there.
Idk if the fury gen is reflecting in that 2 or not. It’ll be boosted by the shouts for sure.
Even quadrupling (not possible) the passive Fury gain from 1 to 4 Fury per hit, that is inconsequentially low as a main source of Fury. Even using Challenging Shout which would give you base 4 Fury per hit quadrupled (again not possible) is barely enough to use a Core ability every few seconds. Keep in mind the more enemies you kill and the more enemies you CC has a negative impact on your Fury gain in this manner.
So, is it a nice hidden surprise? Sure. Most of your Fury is going to be coming from actual Generators though. I can spam Leap/GS which gives me 40 Base Fury each (about 120 Fury modified or 240 for both). It would be great to drop a Basic but you have to at least sink 2 points into them already and Expectant and Might are already tied to Basics.
If Blizzard designed the Skill Tree a little more organically and redesigned Aspects, builds would be more varied, viable, and accessible.
I agree with most of what you said, but with 100%+ fury gen and massive damage reduction, your fury stays full just by getting hit a lot.
I’ve been experimenting with this on 3 different chars.
Sorry for posting late but how much damage reduction are we talking about? And is it just the % of damage reduction or multiple damage reductions like on fortify, bleeding, close, distant etc?
What im having is when activating shouts and berserking abilities all together sometimes i dont get fury generation from hits at all with the melted amulet, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt and wait for the abilities to cd.
As i can recall, damage reduction at 41%,107% fury generation and a 220 fury in total with no buffs, i can get about the 320% fury generation on buffs but no fury is generated from hits if i stand still. Unlike Rob’s demonstration in the video.
Take the Melted Heart to WT1. Let the trash mobs hit a ton to see how much Fury you are getting. My guess is it’s not about being hit. It’s about how much Health is lost. Rob’s video is old. Maybe blizzard screw up somewhere. Got to test with barrier to see if there’s any Fury gain.
No, you naturally gain fury when hit. You need massive resource generation to amplify the amount you gain from being hit. Challenging gives you more fury per hit, HotA increases fury gen, WotB increases resource gen, Rallying increases resource gen, and Prolific Fury gives resource gen when Berserking. You can achieve 350%+ with all of them up when you have the right gear: Shako, Furor, Melted Heart, and 2nd ring with resource gen.
The damage reduction just prevents losing fury from Melted Heart, so it becomes an endless loop of gaining fury and not taking damage.
Fury regen = fun at the moment. More you get, better it is. Can pretty much tank anything just by smacking it with primary with lots of bonuses. More fury = better. The resourceful potions are still the best, even those those brews are nothing to sneeze at. I’m actually thinking about making a frenzy/thornes/hota guy, lol. The WW/HoTA worked pretty well. Why not this too?
- Tibaults Pants
- Metamorphisis S2 Blood Power
- Boots with Evade Charges
- 2 Unstoppable Skills On-Demand (Rallying Cry + Wrath of The Berserker or RC and Iron Skin (Iron Warrior) + Charge) etc.
- Fury Generation at 100%
- If you have a build that can heal 25% of HP often, Starlight is a great 2nd Ring to take assuming you do not use Shouts. Umbral can work also.
